Okay guys need some help. I bought a 2005 dually with 122k miles. Bone stock. Having some problems...

One, I've noticed a lot of black smoke while driving. And some white smoke when I'm in the throttle.

Last weekend I was pulling my new toy hauler, loaded its about 9k lbs. pulled fine until I started up a hill and the check engine light came on and went into limo mode. Hooked up my cheapo scanner and it threw the p1093 code(low fuel rail pressure). Started the truck up and it pulled fine until I started up another hill.

After unhooking the trailer, truck runs fine! And I just changed the fuel filter about two weeks ago.

Any help???

Also looking at putting a Banks Six Gun with the PDA. What are your opinions on that??

Thanks. Hope you Guys can help!

you are more than likely making the fprv(fuel pressure relief valve) pop open. its a verry common problem on lly's. they sell a "shim" kit or a race valve that eliminates that problem, its a cheap fix, but the biggest problem is getting the valve out of the fuel rail. its located on the driver side fuel rail on the firewall side.

It's bone stock. No mods at all...that I've found anyway. And it was a family member (in-laws) owned used car dealer.

I was thinking the fprv needed shimming!

Just a little info, the new fuel filter is a WIX filter. I've recently read that some people are having problems with them...any experience with these filters on here?
