The Edge would not at all have been my first choice for tuning - but I hope you like it.

Straight pipe is nice and loud but I don't like the drone - it's all a personal preference.

I like S&B as far as aftermarket intakes.

Start saving for a trans build so that you can enjoy all the power that your engine has to offer (with better tuning than the Edge).

I got a great deal on the edge and i have no gauges so im gonna go with it for a while. What does a EFI life setup cost with a 5 tune switch? I unbolted my exhaust thinking it would help(ended at the begining of the back door)it was loud but my truck felt slower? maybe just a muffler delete(pipe in place) would be better? What about free mods iv heard about like the turbo intake horn or any other good tips for the lb7. thanks for the help guys

Not a hole lot of free upgrades to the D-max can be done. EFI is 700 with a couple tunes from the vendors here. I run a 4" turbo back from MBRP with a muffler and it sounds nice and helped with pepp a bit

The intake horn is a good cheap upgrade for added flow and response. You can get a full 4" exhaust for fairly cheap ($325). EFI Live is $799, the DSP5 switch is $50 and most vendors (us included) include a free tune with purchase.

Congrats on the new-to-you truck.

I have mine straight piped with no ill effects...and it sounds awesome!

As far as free mods...

Resonator delete (put a 2" cap over the opening in the intake)
Airbox mod, take out some plastic to flow more air.

I have an 05/lly and running a straight pipe as well and luv the sound. (not cat) I had an 02 and it seamed to be a bit louder. Also have the Edge juice w/att. I think it's fine to begin w/, but think I'll be upgrading to the EFI as soon as i pay my truck off. (i can still beat my friend in his ford, so no hurry yet) :D

You can also buy additional Vin Licenses for $100 so you can tune several trucks with one V2.

Congrats. Welcome. No one mentioned the boost valve. If your stock LB7 turbo, youd benefit from a PPE boost valve. Simple 5 minute mod that increases boost (tuning dependant of how much).

Get that tranny done too. Your gonna need it :D

does the egr block off work on a lb7? as far as the EFI live licences($100) i only need one per truck that covers motor and trans? is that as many tunes as i want on each truck?

1 license does 1 ECM and 1 TCM. You can get up to as many license's as you want and tune 220 different GM vehicles. The number of tunes you can load on your truck is infinite tell your ecm burns up atleast. EGR blocker on an LB7 is not gonna be needed unless it is a Cali smogger specail.
