Hello everyone my name is Sam and I recently purchased a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Diesel 4x4. I am happy to be a part of this forum and was sent over from a friend on performancetrucks.net. I have heard lots of good things about these trucks and can't wait to get mine going. :beer

Welcome. Two things about this forum.... people here will convince you to spend your money on go fast parts, and that's not necessarily a bad thing..... the other.... don't listen to Teabagger, he swings from the LBZ nutsack and refuses to believe the LLY is the greatest Duramax ever built.
01-04 is RPO code lb7... injectors under valve covers, wastegated fixed geometry turbo, early models had no emissions
04.5-05 is LLY- Different injector location, VNT turbo.... same bottom end, catalytic converter and EGR added
06-07 is LBZ- Very minor changes to emissions, turbo, add 6spd trans, slightly heavier bottom end
07.5-10 LMM- Emissions crap added, different body but otherwise same powertrain as LBZ
11+ LML- Different bottom end, new emissions crap, urea injection, completely new chassis, same basic body
There's more to it than that but that is the basics.....
