Hello everyone, I have been looking around a while and have the chance to sell me 2005 2500hd 6.0 4x4 extend cab Chevy. I am looking at an 02 or 03 Gmc 2500hd duramax, pretty much the same truck I have now with a duramax in it. I know nothing about diesel. I have read that some have injector trouble? I can pick up this truck with just over 100,000 miles on it. Never pulled anything heavy, I think it has pulled a 3 place enclosed snowmobile trailer a few times a year. For the most part the guy at my work drives his jeep and the truck just sits. He is asking 13,000 for it. He said it does have a programmer, not sure which one. All stock other then that. He said no work has ever need done on the truck. I have no clue about diesel's except that I want one for pulling my camper. Any comments would be great. Thanks, truck is 4x4, auto, everything else but leather.

welcome to the site.. lb7 do have injector problems, i guess its like anything else, some guys dont have a problem with them and others replace them every other year. Its really a great motor and hasnt really changed to much as it went to lly and lbz. Besides egr, the only real change is in 04.5 the injectors are external so it makes changeing them 10x easier. On the lb7 they are internal so changing them takes some time. Hope that helps you out a little and if you have any other questions feel free to ask!:thumb:

It would make you a very nice truck for sure but if injectors were not done you have the older injectors and most likly are getting close to needing replament i like the 03 04 lb7 trucks a little better because they have a little better electrial not that 01 02s are bad just nicer radio and little stuff

Also Welcome to DD:hug:

Thanks, I did not think the price was to bad, never plowed with either, has a little bit of rust but not to bad. So 13,000 is a fair price? What is the average cost of the injectors and to have them changed? Is this something some one with mechanical knowledge could do. I have never really worked on a diesel. My father law has one and I have changed oil, filters and a u-joint but nothing major.

You should take it to a good dealer or duramax shop and have them check it out. They can put it on their tech ll scanner and do a fuel return test. Both of which will check the injectors. It's money well spent IMO. If the injectors are bad or borderline have the shop do a print out and show the seller. Injectors are around 2k for a set of Bosch remans and if you're patient, have a good service manual, and keep everything clean the average wrencher can do them in a weekend. I think 13k is fair if the injectors are good, if it needs injectors he should come off the price at least a couple thousand.
