For a few weeks now I've heard a different rattle tone in my engine. When i put the go pedal down and run the rpm's up i hear a completely different tone in the engine. Not sure how to really explain it, but that's what i hear. And also when i shut her off after just an easy drive, i hear a rattle underneath like something is broke somewhere. Not sure what i could be facing, but it don't sound good. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks!!

All the noises u are describing never were there before? Gettin worse? Have u put any new parts on? This is goin to sound stupid but my dads started to rattle when he shut it off and started to get worse. I chased and chased and it ended up bein the CAI loosened up and would hit the fender. It was the frame that went around the filter. Prolly not what u are hearin but an idea to check.

Never heard the noises before. So as far as i know they are new. Thanks for the pointers on where to look for now. As far as the converter, I hope not. How much that cost to fix?

Stock converter yes. I did find the rattle though. A bolt came out of a hanger on the rear part of the tailpipe. But that still doesn't help me with the rattle tone difference in the motor. :(

Could be an injector or a whole list of other things, start by checking balance rates and if those are good then get a stethescope and start searching. Could also be in your tuning. Might try making a video of the sound and posting it.

I'll be changing the oil this week end, so i will see if that makes any difference of not. I'm not sure if i could get the sound to be heard through it or not. See how things go this weekend i guess. Thanks for the help so far. :thumb:

Seems like you fixed the rattle under neath the truck now the engine rattle. I'm assuming when you shut it off rattle is gone that was the exhaust.

The engine rattle could be pilot injection. Or have you disabled it with a tune? Does it do it stock,I see you have EFI? Have you checked your balance rates? A rattle can be from a injector and as mentioned try some 2-stroke oil. See if it changes.

Good luck

Is 2-stroke a safe alternative to use on a regular basis? I know that adding motor oil will increase viscosity but it doesn't actually increase lubricity.....Always spend way to much $$$ on Power-Service from Advanced Auto & Walmart (which I hear is worthless anyway). Just dropped big money on brand new set of 45% overs from Exergy. Would hate to damage them.

Thanks

Yea exhaust rattle is gone. Broke a bolt in the one hanger. I haven't tried the stock tune, maybe i will tonight. I haven't quite had time to hook up my efi and run a scan yet. One of these days i hope to.

Whole quart you say I thought I was nuts at a half a quart and I have a bigger tank but I fill up between a half and a quarter to l put less strain on the wallet.
