Bent #8 pushrods after new injectors 1500miles. What could have caused this.

Yeah, if I installed the bridges reversed on that cylinder would that cause a misalignment binding issue that could bend the pushrods?

Why did you have the rockers and bridges off to do injectors? Sure you adjusted the valves right after having it all apart?

did you by any chance not have a push rod all the way down in the lifter and up on the edge or the ball caught on the edge of the rocker arm seat did you? I had a Cummins one time that put the rockers back on and the ball did not go down in the seat and when I rolled the engine over by hand as I always do when I do valve train adjustments or have them off it came up hard. I saw what I had done and fixed it.

Okay, let me clear some stuff up. Dad was telling me wrong. The cups broke off of the #7 pushrod an number 8. Nothing is in the motor. The bridges were installed correctly, but one was halfway off, don't know if that happened after the pushrod broke or when we disassembled it. Would not having the valvelash adjusted properly cause this?

We did head gaskets at the same time. That's why the rocker arm was off.

We were beating on it when this happened.

Yes incorrect valve lash could cause this like they were too tight what did you set them at. did you use the same thickness gaskets?

is it possible you broke the crank at it is enough out of time that it contacted the valves and bent the pushrods. it could be.

If you look at the pushrods wrong the tips will come off. Always lube the tips well and adjust the valve I adjust a little tighter then spec. Having 2 screwed pushrods truck will run like shit.

Thinking back on it, I'm pretty sure we forgot to adjust valvelash after new head gaskets. This was one of those projects where we would work on it a little, then it would sit for six months... Took us two years to do injectors and head gaskets.... Got way to many fires right now..
