:welcome9: lb7s are great motors,i hope yours isnt a cali model= egr and a cat. They had injector issues with the origianls get a report on your truck and see if they have been changed.Ive seen injectors and pumps go 300k stock, are you planning performance upgrades?:D I as well as some others run a full quart of 2 stroke oil in the tank to keep things lubed and i run 8 oz of the gray power service in the spring summer and fall and here in the cold i use the white bottle power service in the winter.Theres a lot of very knowledgable people on here glad to help with info. You came to the right place. :thumb:

Welcome.

Hit or miss on lb7's. Crappy injector design and placement. I went thru 3 sets in 135k miles, I've seen other lb7's do 250k+ with no probs. Like ^^ said, 2 stroke oil or power service can only help since the ulsd fuel that the US has is lower on the main lubricant diesel used to have. Injection pumps are pretty durable, haven't seen/heard of that many probs with them until they're seeing abuse in high hp trucks.

Good site to be on, lots of people here got years of experience in dury's.....

Thanks guys appreciate the help. I checked the oil level and it's not diluted in diesel lol truck starts great cold and doesnt miss a beat. And no smoke when cold or when up to fully operating temp so that's a not a bad thing all in all feels like a good deal. Also inj balance test would good. Now I know on ppstrokers an injector can be good one day and bad the next lol is that the case with these or do they have signs when they start?

balance rates are a good indication of bad injectors but not all bad injectors will have bad balance rates.

you'll notice the truck sounds louder, might be signs of raw diesel smell in exhaust or white smoke, fuel or coolant in crankcase etc. There will be signs but there is a wide variety of signs that they are failing.

If it sounds normal, drive it and enjoy it. No point in stressing about something that may or may not ever happen :D

congrats on the purchase by the way

To have the latest design injectors they would have had to be changed in later 08. These are some really good trucks but like any diesel they are expensive to work on. Good luck!

Nice find on the truck. The guys on here will get you headed in the right direction.

Just a tip, I would keep that particular truck down to around 360rwhp until you get ready to build the trans. You can push more power with just a tune than the trans can handle in stock form. Beautiful part is it will just go in limp mode when you push it too far and slip a clutch. It will limp easier and easier each time you do it.

Pics?????
