Hello so im new to the forum! my name is brett im 16 and i joined because i needed some information and advice on gettin a duramax. I have found a 2006 chevy duramax 4x4 crew cab. It has 174000 miles and they are asking 16995. Is this a good price and is 174000 miles too much. I know duramax's are known to last forever but im just curious if it is worth buying. The truck is in great condition and i cant find anything wrong with it. Let me know what you guys think? :thumb:

Without knowing anything about it, KBB says it is worth about $19,960 in good condition. I would ask myself the basic questions. Do the fluids look good (no oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil...), is the upper radiator hose pressurized when it has been shut down and cooled down (if it is hard, expect to replace head gaskets), does it have a bad history on carfax or similar report, does the seller seem honest and genuine? If you are satisfied with the answer to all of those questions, it would likely be a good deal. Best of luck,

Robb

i was always taught that if a older guy who never got his foot into it owned it for a long time, then you get it and the original ring groove is low then you rod on it a little and stretch the conecting rod and throw the ring through the original ring grove? prob more of a gas issue but one would think it is the same idea????? i am no expert though, listen to the rest of the guys on here, they now their $hit

Welcome to the site!

Cc ext cab reg cab short or long box leather cloth 4x4 or 2wd get a vin check done on here. Has there ever been a tune loaded on it?

X2!

There is a section on this forum where you can request a VIN check and Henry (RIPMF666) will run the VIN for ya and get you the build sheet plus any service recall's needed/completed and any warranty work done at the dealer.
Other than that do the normal checks you would on any used truck.
