I just purchased my first diesel back in November and I'm ready to do some mods to it so I decided to come here. Hopefully this forum will me out with learning the ropes of owning a diesel too.

Doubtful
This place is all corporate, too much yellow tape, hush hush, natzi socialistic BS here
Too may trolls and not enough actual grassroots racers, DIY'ers and in general there's no autogaragehero's here to learn from, this place is more like free entertainment for all the "bro's"

How big your ehaust stack is and having 26" x18" wheels, pretty much makes you or breaks you

You don't want to read the pages of nausia within this database

Described me when I joined... Young and stupid, lifted truck, coal is cool, f**k a prius kind of "bro." You sound like you just wrote a funny, but in all honesty this forum is what turned me around to what real duramax's are. I'm far from a real diy racer or whatever, but I can thank this forum for feeding this youngin the knowledge he's hungry for!!

Wow!! Thanks for being honest with me. But why is it that everyone wants to do nothing but lift a truck, put big ugly wheels on it and a huge stack that blows thick black smoke? I just want decent fuel economy and good towing power out of mine. The truck had 330k on it when I bought it and the guy took great care of it but I'm sure there are a few things I can do to keep it from goin 100% douche.

Stick around man, this IS the best site for hardcore diesel gearheads, you won't find a better one

There are lots of reasons to lift a truck aside from having a small penis and being a CalStyle blingy douche...still no good reason to blow smoke on the street tho...

Sounds to me like.you're a good candidate for an EFI-live tune, a downpipe, 4" exhaust and a lift pump

That'll wake the truck up real nice and give you the results you're after

I have been poking around a few of the other threads on here and wasn't planning on bailing. Every forum has those guys and you just have to pick through some stupid stuff to get the real help.

As far as the mods you listed, the main reason I came was to learn more about EFI Live. I have a Cummins nut buddy, who from day one, has never shut up about that so I am doing some more research on it. Still don't really know much about it.

Welcome. You will find out efi live is the best and cleanest tuning for your rig. Tons of stuff to read about it on here. And as stated, this is the best place for all the info you need, lots of smart and knowledgeable guys AND gals here.

If your looking for a forum to BS on though at times, head over to duramax forums. This right here though is the forum to watch and read, it's like gold.

Enjoy the truck, and wiping that smug look off the cummins/power stroke lovers who hang with you. There about to be super jealous :thumb:

Actually, compared to 2006-10, this is kind of what its like here now. Seems we get more "first diesel" or DF-type people "looking for knowledge" than those with actual knowledge/experience to share. Sad, but thats the way it goes.....

Anyway, welcome to DD. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Ok so I've been read A LOT about EFI live and I think I may have read too much. (I have a tendency to over research new things).

Is it best for me to pay someone to tune my truck? If not how simple is it to make sure I don't kill my truck? Is there anything I need to do before I tune it or is bone stock ok to tune?
