New to the forum and I just bought my first Dmax. A few questions for you all. First off I don't plan on racing it I just want good MPG and a little additional power, I pull a 25' gooseneck occasionally probably no more than 15000 pounds. Here's what I'm thinking:

DPF Delete - with replacement pipe
2nd ECM - for warranty issues
PPE or EFI Live?
EGR Blocker
PCV Reroute

What are some problems related to the DPF delete i.e no remote start, DTC's etc...?

With a light tune 90-120 HP from either PPE of EFI Live how much will I shorten the life of the Allison?

Are there any problems associated with the EGR block?

Thanks in advance.

Hey new guy, welcome.

Opinions you want thats what you'll get!

If your worried about the trans life expectancy at any power level... just do the trans. Imagine towing up a 6% grade with the trailer and a Dodge trys to pass? Wanna add some fuel and let 'er rip or watch him go by? :(

DPF? I don't have one, lotsa guys dump 'em but your gonna need it back on by prolly 2010, so save it.:)

If you don't wanna spend alot of time learning/tuning... PPE hands down you'll have to do the trans to use it all it has to offer.

Call Dan at PPE. I don't think they (dealer) can see PPE stuff, if you remove it.

I went with the DPF delete and I love it. I do have my stock exhaust laying around just in case I ever need it again. X2 on the transmission. I am just running a transgo JR right now but am saving up for a suncoast IV so i can turn up the power and not worry about it. It is amazing how well they run with some tuning changes.:D

Welcome!

Your plan seems good, I would keep your original ecm stock and use the 2nd ecm for modifiying. No problems at all with related to DPF delete. You might be ok with a 90hp tune but not for long and you couldn't get on it very much. Add atleast a Transgo Jr. No problems with the EGR block either just some codes that can be tuned out with efi live.

What kind of mileage are you getting?

What exactly does the Transgo JR do?

Can't say for sure, I don't have one. I went straight for the Mike L 4 and didn't fart around, I hate worrying/wondering, counting the days until I hurt it.

Seriously though, search transgo on this site alot of info I'm sure. IIRC it mods the valvebody enough to help the trans hold more power. As well as being preventative (these are $$$$ to fix) i was 4/10ths faster 0-60 with the trans all tuning the same.

If you want it straight from the horses mouth, call Mike L, search him or Inglewood Transmissions as well, he is in the vendor section.

He's (Mike L) the West Coast guy, if you are back East (didn't look at your sig) find Suncoast (Georgia?) or Mike will know somebody reputable to see. The Allison is no Turbo 400, its not a piece of cake.

Good luck Dude, you are in the right place. :D

I have a rather heavy right foot and I usually cruise at about 90-95 and I get about 16 mpg highway from Provo, UT to Las Vegas. I am not sure what I get around town. On a side note it is amazing how much the highway EGT's came down with the downpipe and DPF delete. It used to cruise around 1100 degrees on the highway now it is around 850-ish I think. I usually only look when I am getting on it hard so I don't remember what it is normally.
