Hi everyone! Just found this site. I have a completely stock 2005 2500HD 4WD Crew Cab Long Box Chevy. I use it to haul my camper & tow my Jeep mainly. It has 63,000 miles on it and I've own it since 2008.I've been thinking it's time for some more hauling/towing power. I know just about nothing about diesels, but have heard it is easy to get power out of them.I would like some advice for getting power out of it and keeping it reliable. Brands, what to do first.... I am buget minded!

Start by upgrading your mouth piece (piece going into the turbo)
I did a Lbz one so like the afe one.
And do an egr blocker plate before really adding any power

X2.... tuning, find a good efilive tuner, there's lots on this board. If you want a hand held tuner, PPE sells good stuff. Talk to dan, he'll help you out. Be careful with the trans if you start throwing too much power at it. Exhaust will help drop egt's, especially if you ditch the cat.

Do a search, there's lots of info on good upgrades that won't kill your truck.

Welcome to DD.

Mouthpiece for the turbo, and a small EFI tune if you don't want to build the trans. And a few gages to watch the boost and EGTs. Yes you can make power, but you can't make a lot of power and hook heavy stuff to it if you want it to live
