So Cal.
New GARRETT Turbos coming out!!!

with a 10% increase in flow and Pressure ratio!!!
---------------------------------------------------------
The next stage generation of Garrett turbochargers is here.

The Garrett GTX-R Turbochargers will be revealed at the 2009 SEMA Show both in the Garrett by Honeywell booth (#24733) and the SEMA New Products Showcase in the South Hall.

Garrett GTX-R Turbochargers feature:
- All-new, forged and fully-machined compressor wheels designed using the latest in aerodynamics derived from computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques
- Greater than 10% more flow and over 10% higher pressure ratio capabilities than the standard Garrett GT lineup
- Dual ball bearing design for ultra-quick spool and unsurpassed thrust load capability
- Full interchangeability with the current Garrett GT turbocharger lineup for ease of upgradability

The new Garrett GTX4294R, GTX4202R and GTX4508R will be available at the end of 2009, but you can check out the next generation of Garrett Turbochargers at the SEMA Show booth #27433. Actual gas-stand compressor maps will be available to see the real advantages of the new Garrett GTX-R turbochargers.

I'm almost 100% sure they didn't change anything but the compressor wheels. The new 4294 is about the same as the present 4202.

So Cal.
Bring me back info Dan. A 4508 with more pressure ratio range would be a good thing, but need to have mounting data. :D

I will bring you back some info.

The existing GT4508 will not bolt up in place of the GT4202. That's why PPE made up some GT42 Magnums, which used the 4508 compressor wheel, but bolted up to a GT42 install kit. They didn't make more peak boost than the 4202, but they carried the power out 600 rpm further with little loss on the bottom end. Wider powerband and lower EGT's than the 4202.

I know what you are saying ;). The magnums are a Full GT 4508R comp and turbine.

I know about the GT4208's. They have been around for a long time, well before the diesel crowd starting thinking about using them.

I don't think PPE ever said they invented hybrid turbocharging.

To the best of my knowledge, no other Duramax shop would sell you a complete GT45 kit before PPE did. It was on Casper at Bakersfield a couple years ago, in "off-the-shelf" condition. We also won a sled pull, and set a B'ville record with it.

For which size? I beleive the answer is no. Last I checked they where only availible as complete chargers.

More changed than just the Comp wheel. The hot sides are different to.

from what i understood the comp wheel and cover are the only difference. but as of right now the wheel will not bolt to an existing journal center

Again. For which size?

I know for fact that at least one of the new GTX turbos is has a different turbine also. The size and trim are the same but the blades are different.
