Texas!!!
I took The Dumpster up to Indianapolis for the NHRDA Indiana Diesel Shootout last weekend to do some racing in the Super Diesel 11.90 index class. The weather was really nice and the track was pretty sticky which allowed me to make a new best fuel only pass.

My previous fuel only best was an 11.82, but I can't remember the MPH off the top of my head. Anyway, the new best is an 11.75 @ 113.89 MPH. This is a 100% stock Duramax with the only mods being a lift pump, tune, intake, exhaust and built trans. Race weight is 5320 lbs.

I know it isn't anything crazy impressive, but I was happy to see it run so well without the spray. Kind of makes me wonder what it would have done had I turned it on. I would have liked to find out, but it would have sucked to break it before the race after driving so far to get it there. I was able to come away from the race with second place in the SD class (I got antsy and left before the tree even came down, rookie mistake), and I think I may be tied for the SD points championship. I'd really like to win the points race before I retire The Dumpster. I may have to see about making some more races this year.

If things work out like I hope, I'll still be racing a van, but I'm looking to move up and make some changes. I'll let you all know when I know something for sure. I will say that what I have planned will put me well past 10s on fuel.

What transmission does your van run? is it an ALLI or a 4L/6L somthing? the reason I ask is a just got done with the LQ4/4l80E swap in my 86 K10 short bed 4x4 and it runs good but after driving my 600+ hp duramax I'm less then inpressed with it. so what i was wonder is it possible to get the computer and harness from avan (if it has an 80E behind it and drop a duramax in front of it? I hear the 80E is a tough trans but i doubt a 1000 ft lbs tough, but cheap to built.

I believe it's a 4L85E but i'm sure Josh will chime in. He built the one he's running himself. :thumb:

Yeah see thats what I'm think i have all the part to built the bottom end of the spare LB7 block i have and it woudl sure be alot faster in 5300 lbs pickup then a 7k lbs crew cab. just wondering about the flash file and the harness to run the dmax ecm and the 4l80E trans. that K10 would be one nast SOB with a built dmax in it and a set of twins. already have rods, all the studs, fingers pistons, Colt cam, and has 3/4 ton axels with 4:10's and a locking diff/disc brake rear diff from the 04 2500hd doner rig. anyone know the block bolt pattern for the motor mounts? is it similar to and LS, IIRC its not the quite the same from when i pulled this engine.
