new from WI and looking for duramax

I dont own a duramax yet but i have been shoping around for one. I know i want one with a zf-6 so if anyone knows of one around or near WI I am willing to drive up to 400miles to pick up one. also has anyone on here ever bought a truck from a dealer called midwest diesel? I found one i like on there but would like to know more about the dealer.

You must not be as picky as some most want an 06 LBZ they are harder to find.

I dont know all that much about the different years for the duramax engines and problems they have thats why i joined. all i know is i want the zf-6 for sure

They made them in the 06 LLY which was a LBZ with LLY tuning. They are a rare truck to find. The early years were a little more common since lots of truckers weren't too knowledgeable on the reliability of the Allison at the time.

What he said I think of all 06 truck as LBZ's as they are just diff tune.

Before you buy one be sure that you understand what a PITA the dual mass clutch, plastic pedal etc involves. South Bend clutch makes a solid replacement, but if you want something with manners AND holding power i have yet to see that happen. I also hear how SBC's customer service is legendary, but that is because guys are getting their units replaced under warranty due to issues.

I think it would be neat to go to a handshaker, but I want my cake and eat it too and I just don't see it happening.
