Hi, Im from Montreal, Been brosing the forum for a while before I bought a duramax.

Mine's a black 2005 sierra slt crew cab long bed dually. It's got 212 000miles and 560 engine hours. My truck was "converted" to single rear wheel setup by the previous owner. I want to turn it back into a dually.

You can find me in the marketplace section where I look for a dually bed and front wheel hub/spacers

Thank everyone.

And yes I'm here thanks to blk smoke lb7.

Still havent found a dually bed or replacement sides locally. It's a PITA to find in my area. Those on ebay are over 1450Km (900miles)

In the meantime, I have a cooling system to diagnose then I can start using the truck

This tread is probably worthless without pics so ...

This makes me a sad panda

Below is the "arrest me stance" with 2500hd rims that bends the rear studs (lip on the bore )

Goes without saying I cannot load this truck on those rims. I may get shorter studs and use 2500 lug nuts... But I bought a dually for a reason so I dont like that option

:happy2: I got lucky and kijiji'ed (think craigslist) a nice bed of a 2001 ! Problems solved .
Drove >400km on hilly roads, with a 16ft flatbed, the truck runs sweet.
A few wheels and tires, and It'll be a dually again.

Now I need to make a A frame to hoists the beds on and off the truck.

Did both upper balljoints and full front disks, rear disks are barely worn at all. Trucks runs sooooo much better. I still have to fix the dreaded white plastic bearing of the steering column. I still have a little play there.

Anyhow, I am now running the truck, and impressed with the fuel mileage. The way im driving the dash isnt going lower than 25.8 MPG. (9l/100km) But I'd say it's closer to 10-11 Litre/100km (whatever that is in MPG) with the way im driving. On the highway, the dash says 7-8litre/100km at max.

I've not run a full tank in it yet, waiting for gas price to go down a little. I'll look into installing a second tank.

found vaccuum in my cooling system the other day. Maybe my HGs are good afterall. I'll flush and bleed it, and add fluorescent die.

onward and forward with the "work truck to snowbird truck" build
