GM made them to compete with the Mustang Cobra Jet and Super Cobra Jet. All of them are bad ass factory built drag cars. Really not that expensive for what you get.

and DOT approved slicks with a 10 point is hardly street legal. Although sub 9 range is a 25 and yea, that ain't gonna be streetable.

I believe they come with three engine options. A 327, a 4.0 whipplecharged 327, or a 427. To my knowledge, no HP numbers were released but an article I read estimated the blown 327 to be around 1400 hp.
