Hey guys...gotta love our shipping companies. I shipped my Cheetah to a member of DP who bought it. It was packaged nicely in my 475 boxing and didn't think about it. Well the buyer got it and apparently the water line is smashed into the compressor housing and the IC outlet (think that's what it's called) is in a D shape now...need a new compressor housing now :( should have known better as everything I've got from said shipping company is in some way mangled and treated poorly in shipping and when contested is such a PITA it's not worth the fight so now I have to refund or replace the part as I stand behind anything I've sold and feel like shit now...any help?

did the buyer sign off on the package as damaged? They will take care of you if you insured the package which i am sure you did

I didn't insure it after multiple issues with this shipping company and insurance claims I still have the money so I'm going to have to replace/refund

Put it this way...I was deployed and got sent a PSP which never arrived the shipping company blamed the military even though the package was fully insured and refused replacement.
They also gave me my stack dented/fully insured and refused replacement of that as well

Well after talking to him he's an awesome dude and agreed it's really no ones fault but I'm still partially refunding him something cause I feel like shit. Basically UPS ripped the box it was in...cut the label off my original package and put it in a 2x3' box and taped my label on it. Then threw the original box and cheetah loosely in that box and sent it that way...

If it helps I have a stock cover that the wheel scuffed up. If it could be machined to work for cheetah I'll send it to ya for what shipping costs.

Bump...is there anything I can do? I know it wasn't insured and don't want $$ just absolutely blown away that UPS would do such a thing

ugh. How the hell do my fellow upsers do shit like that? Had to be damn college kids throwing boxes around.

If you didnt insure it for actual value, you're SOL. Sorry. Wish I could help, but I cant.

You never know what will happen to the box (esp something heavy), what it will be loaded under or around, or how it will be handled once it gets in the system, so best bet is to pack it like it will go thru a war (no pun intended) and insure it for replacement value.

Thanks Tom I'll keep that in mind. I'm just astounded a procedure like that is even allowed to happen (repackaging a customers item) I should have known better just assumed since my 475 made it safely to me through UPS in the same box the Cheetah would be okay...live and learn I guess

Isnt it insured though for $100 no matter what? thats what the up's folks always told me. Im sure theres a bunch of loopholes to jump through first.

Correct. The buyer and I were talking and he's going to get the $100 and do what he can with it and were going to go from there. Just generally pissed about the whole ordeal as they broke my packaging and repackaged with no notice to me (the shipper) seems like something you may want to inform the customer of IMO

Im not much of a fan of UPS (sorry tom). Seems like they loose the most packages. Plus were the last stop on UPS's route which means i get my stuff no earlier than 4pm. Im the first stop on FedExs route so i get my stuff before 9Am. And USPS priority mail rocks too. Fast cheap and never seems to get lost.

I agree (no offense tom) UPS does suck. We get customers that get exhaust systems in unbelieveable conditions. Reboxed in double brown boxes all taped together, no hardware, pipes destroyed. They are vaccum packed with foam and they still manage to destroy them. We've easily got 40-50 damaged systems sitting in the warehouse that we either bring to the swap meet to sell or we arange for the manufactures to take them back for a partial credit. It's at least 3-4 systems a week.

Damn!! I don't feel so bad now. I just thought it was unbelievable that this actually happened. Guess I'll be using FedEx or USPS from now on.
