Congrats on the machines

Looking at your CMM reminds of a conversation I had with Allison yesterday at the shop.

Allison-Mom what is that guy doing with the little ball thing
Mom-He is measuring the part
Allison-How with the little ball
Mom-Go ask your Dad he is the one that measures stuff

What kind of machines are they? Just by the little bit of the pic I can see, they look like Nakamura Tome's. Oh yeah I run CNC's for a living.:D

We bought Yama sieki machines, all the shops we spoke with ran these machines along side mori seiki and said they are just as good if not better... I love mori seiki, they just couldnt meet our delivery demands. We have 6 mazak horizontal's I dont like them...at all. In fack we have a makino with a ten pallet changer:drool: coming in later this year to replace one or a few of them. Those work pieces aren't one off either. Got a Mori seiki MV 55 thats 22 years old (bought before I was born) thats still on the floor and has never broke down..ever. It prompted us to buy a few more.

I am not a big Mazak fan either. Mazatrol sucks IMHO. The Mazaks we have are for dedicated use. Meaning they run either just one part or family of parts. Mazaks work nice for production because they are fast. I have ran Makino horizontals (a55) Very nice. The memory is rather small for complex stuff. The new Fanuc controls are not that impressive. I like the Mitsubishi controls the Mori uses better but that is just me. I learned milling on an old MV55 (Mean Green) tough old machines. If sombody makes a lathe that can truely keep up with the new Mori NL live lathes I would love to try it. We have had a bunch of different brands in on test, Daewoo, Kia, Okuma and some others with now real luck. Never tryed a Yama Seiki though. We tryed a Haas SL30. That had be the biggest flaming peice of junk I have ever ran. Burnt the drive motor out of it in three days. The control sucks to. No hand dials for rapid , feed, and spindle overrides. :gay:
