Bought this today..2003 2500HD clapped out at 418k miles! Supposedly has a somewhat fresh 6.0 in it but we know how what goes. Race truck after RN school, DD beater for now.

Nice Jordan! Very clean for 400k!

6.0/4l80 is a great platform for twin 67mm turbos, 110lb injectors, and some nitrous! Buddy of mine down her ein AZ did just that, and made well north of 700rwhp and used to DD and tow with it. All on a stock motor. ;)

Jordan if you can find the engine serial number, I can look up if its the original engine.

Truck definitely looks nice for 400k!

Dad has a 2002 2500hd with the 6.0... Motor took a crap around 430k miles, new one is running like a champ... Stock 4l80 still running strong currently around 450k miles... Strong foundation man, start building and don't look back.

Few more. Anyone know what the plate on the exhaust manifold is? Looks almost like where an EGR or something is supposed to be..

That was left over casting spot for the EGR on the earlier engines. 2002 and older LSx had EGR. When they went drive-by-wire in 2003, I guess they were able to tune the engines to the point where they didnt need EGR anymore to pass emissions. Its actually pretty impressive...how many modern engines (gas or diesel) nowadays can pass emissions without EGR????

So rather than retool for new exhaust manifolds, they just blocked it off on 03+ manifolds.

As for the engine serial number....im not sure where it would be located?

Kind of strange but I've been missing my gramps a lot lately and decided the beater will be my "Gramps" build. Nothing fancy, but he liked regular cab trucks, nice pipes, reupholstered interiors, and the Cornhuskers (Nebraska born). So this truck will hopefully be a culmination of the stuff he liked. I took his obituary out of my LB7 and it now lives in the visor of the regular cab 6.0.
