Hey everyone. New to this forum, I'm hoping to spend many an hour getting to know everyone and learning as much as I can.

I have an 86 K5 Blazer and I plan on doing a Duramax/Allison swap, as well as an interior swap from an early 2000s 2500HD. Going to be a long road, but it's something I've wanted to do as long as I can remember.
I'll be doing 1 tons and lots of other things as well.

Thanks for having me!

Sounds like an interesting project. Gonna be a lot of work, though. We do have a Repower/Transplant section for when you want to start your build thread.

Welcome. :)

Thanks guys. These are the pics I have as of now. I stripped her down for the most part the a few weekends ago. Going to take the body off soon so I can strengthen the frame and start with engine bay prep.

Thought about doing a body swap onto the newer frame or is the blazer too short for a RCLB?

I hadn't thought about swapping the frame to be honest. Was just going to make what I had as bullet proof as I could then build on it.

The reason I bring up swapping the frame is I don't know what you're planning on doing but buying a reg cab long box may be beneficial as you get IFS (unless you're planning on off-roading it), a really beefy rear diff, stronger frame, and then you also don't need to fabricate any mounts for the drivetrain.

I know WCFAB makes a solid axle conversion kit for the duramax trucks as well to use a newer radius arm dana 60.

Understandable, yes my plan is making it an overlander. So lots of off roading for sure. Mostly anyways. Yeah I'll be buying a donor truck for the rear axle, as well as the drivetrain. I already have my dana 60 purchased and in my garage for it.

David Kennedy from Diesel Power Mag was doing this years ago and ran into a problem where the engine pan would not clear the front diff. Don't know what he did. Haven't seen him in a while.
