Thats a nice unit! The one i got in my truck (Eclipse AVN-5495) is a few years old but when it was new it was new it was $2500  But the Navi is built in, internal 30GB hard drive so anytime i hear a song i like or CD or anything i can hit record and i have it! The Navi is great too, no service to pay or disks or anything, it just uses a little antenna llike an XM puck but smaller. And i can update it by burning a cd file from there site. Tons of other features in it, DSP, Memorystick, DVD, etc. But the best part was i traded it from my former boss for a factory ford stereo!!!! :woot: I would have bought an Alpine had i not "stole" this one:rofl: I really like Alpine Stuff and the Pulsetouch screen is really cool! Oh pics of mine in my garage!

Again, does anyone know how to interface a PC to the inputs on the back of a DVD headunit?

It's going to depend on what outputs your pc has and inputs on your monitor.

Well the head unit has standard RCA type input/output hookups and it might have an s-video? The only output on the lappy is an s-video? And USB ports too but I dont know if theres some sort if interface cable made for that or not? Cant most computers be hooked to a TV? If thats the case, i think i would be able to patch into my headunit?

S-video is going to be your best bet. It should show just fine!

Is there an interface cable or somthing i could get to hook my laptop to my headunit?
I have an Eclipse AVN-5495, it has RCA video inputs, it would be cool to get EFI on it!

go through the backup camera plug. test the image before you put everything back in the dash though, some reverse the picture

I actually got it off of ebay for about $800. It does fit good, I just have one issue as far as getting the rim around the stereo. The dash is to tight to put it on, so, out comes the dremel. I'm really happy so far, I got the bypass unit in and installed today so now I can watch video's while going down the road. But, the main reason I got this bypass piece is so you can adjust your navigation while driving and view your backup cam when you want to..

Install is pretty straight forward. I bought the PAC OS2BOSE adapter to make this work WITH onstar and your factory BOSE speakers...:)

is this adapter needed if you arent using the factory speakers or onstar

Yes i like this head unit a lot and thats what im looking to do with my truck. how is the sound via radio? my past experiences with any headunit is much worse radio reception than the stocker. i know ill miss the 6 disc but the screen just looks sooo good!! ipod interface is also a very very nice touch, thats what ill be using the most probably anyway. does it charge the ipod too with the adapter?

Works awesome. I love how you can go through playlist right from the radio! Much easier.

It would make things eaiser Larry. Just get the non bose version. Go to Pac's website and it will give you a model number, I can remember off the top of my head.

What about the steering wheel controls? Do they still work with this set up and I am interested in a Alpine unit also!!

I purchased the adapter that you wire up to your steering wheel and then it plugs right into the back of the radio. but, honestly I don't even need it (personal preference really). Everything else works that doesn't pertain to the radio.

It's easy to get the EFI on there. You just have to have and output on your computer that sends a S-Video and then you plug into the radio, and walla!

If I hadn't bought my mini tuning computer I was going to buy the "Mini PC" that allows to have all the functions of a computer, and I was going to tune, scan, etc right in my truck with a computer built in (way cool).
No dragging computers around, etc...

This I need to do. As soon as the garage is up, I'm buyin a new head unit and a docking station for my laptop. The W-200 just isn't gonna cut it any more I guess.

I thought about putting a raw monitor in again, but I wan't to keep the pockets in the dash in this truck.
