My 02 is making oil and I know i need to get rates checked but i will be tuning it after its fixed. my question is should i go ahead and buy the efi live tuner and scan myself or pay for it to be tested and have someone put tunes on with efi live?

not a bad idea to have your own efi live then you can play around with tunes and what not. can get them pre tuned and then you just load em. depends how much you wana spend to

I would get the whole package. I have a V2 and only use it to log, read and clear codes and adjust for tire size, but its nice to be able to do the basic stuff and not have to call your tuner for everything.

Check out ss diesel tuning, Steve offers a bunch of diff options and will def hook you up being a member here.:thumb:

X2 Steve is or was running a special on V2 with tunes. SSdieseltuning.com I think.

Here's something to consider.... Let your goals for the truck decide wether or not to buy a V2. If you are going to slowly modify the truck and build it to be a powerhouse I would strongly reccomend investing in a V2.

If you are just going to slightly modify the truck and keep the power close to stock, I would not buy expensive equipment to change a tune once or twice. Hope this makes sense.

thanks guys! the only diesel power i have experienced so far is a 6.5:roflmao: so i plan on modifying it as much as i can overtime. The transmission is gonna be my limiting factor as of now but i see the v2 in my near future if uncle sam lets me have my tax check. Ive been a visitor to this site for years but with my new dmax addition i see i have found my home:angel:. thanks guys. any reccomendations on intake mods or aftermarker?

So far my plans are for v2 since i will need tunes and diagnostics anyway, air dog for filtration and lift pump, i had thought about the trans go and torque converter also to hold my trannsmission thru for a lil longer also. I have read its better to go ahead and over build it but goals for now would be to spend 5 grand and a dependable 400-450 whp. Thanks in advance for ur time and advice

when my dad bought the truck he was told it had recent injectors and after 6 or 8 thousand miles it started making oil so i traded my trans am to it. i had 6800 in the car so seeing my truck is rust free i feel like im still doin good on price.i was hoping its the cp3 or return line leaking but i am prepared for the worst. although its not hazing at all! it fills the block within 300 miles

 300 miles?you have a cracked injector body a hole in a piston or a broke return line or a return line that didnt get tightened enough.Thats alot of fuel.

i was hoping for a loose return line or injector body crack. i cant lie i didnt consider a hole in a piston at all. In park it revs real slow and under wot throttle it almost loses power but i was hoping it was the fuel filter needing replaced since it was never changed by him. my hands are tied behind my back til my tax money arrives. i guess checking return rates would be my first way to diagnose?

my miles per gallon might as well be gallons per mile also:(
Im sure!" With a leak that bad i cant believe it even starts which leads me to believe it would be returns but the wot runs sound weird like your not getting the psi you need to the injector. Are you still driving it? god i hope not.
