So I'm going a different direction with my F100 project and looking for advice. Project is the F100 in my sig, 3.9L isuzu diesel procharger D1sc, HE351 turbo, 650cc pump, large injectors etc. I'm shooting for roughly 600hp but havent had it on the dyno yet since its in the tear back down phase. I am wanting to go AWD and knowing I will need some heavy duty parts due to the little diesels tq I figured I'd come to you guys for advice. With the truck just the way it is in my sig right now it weighs 3860 with me in it so I'd imagine another 5-600 pounds after all the awd stuff is added but should be under or right around 4500lbs.

What tranny and AWD transfer case do you think I should use?

I am strongly considering getting rid of the 5R110 I currently have and go back to a built 4l85e from a duramax powered van (since they come with hardened internals already). The only Tcase I can find that may work is one from a silverado SS the NV149, its a full time 4wd case with a 36%front to 64% rear power split. Do you know of anything better?

For the front diff I am probably going to use one from a chevy 2500 and go IFS so its fixed and will be easier to make the truck sit low.

4L85 should do you fine. It worked well with the GN/Duramax Allison I built a few tears ago.

What about a tcase from the old cyclone/typhoons? That might be an option. I believe they were AWD. Might need an adapter to mate to the trans.

I had considered that but figured one from a modern silverado SS or escalade (specificly the NV149) would be much easier to find and could be had with low mileage on it for a decent price.

The SS xfer case should probably work fine...I think there are quite a few SS guys putting some big power through them with no problems.

Talk to chase04 (I think thats his name), he has an insane SS and if anyone on the forum here knows what the SS drivetrain will and wont take, it will be him.

as for the transmission, does anyone have anything aftermarket for the 6L90 yet? That would be pretty cool to run one of those. Stock they are rated at 520ft lbs max input torque, because they were designed from the start to be the trans to go behind the 4.5 dmax...so the trans is definitely diesel-rated.

I'll see if I can contact chase and get his input. I have been reading on a couple SS specific forums and the nv149 seems to hold up great even behind 1200hp. I still havent come across anything better.

I have been wanting to use a 6l90 since they first came out. To my knowledge of all the companies (and their are quite a few) trying to develope a controller for them PCS is doing the best so far but even they are lagging way behind since theyve been promising a 6l90 specific controller for about a year now. I really think the gearing in the 6l90 would be perfect for these little 4 cylinder diesels I like playing with.

To be honest I will be suprised if anyone has a controller for the 6l90 anytime soon since its just as complicated as the 5r110 and the allison. With that said I know these companies are gonna have to step up to the plate since it seems all trannies are going to this clutch to clutch configuration, I know it can be done (heck I have a 5r110 in my ford with a pcs controller now) just gonna take time. Luckily there are litterally many thousands of people waiting on the 6l90 controller so the demand is there for the companies to get on the developement.
