Race last weekend and truck was fine. Sat all week and put some new boots on. Started the truck up to drive up to Branson. Smooth idle, runs good but smoke real bad. Hazes a lil at idle. Logged the truck and all looks good. Injectors as well. Found a boost leak that I thought was it, but same issue after fixing. Replace MAF with good working one. What have I not checked? EGT's climb real fast just driving?

Yes, none. The boost leak which I thought was the issue was in the turbo compressor housing. The oring that seals the cover. Had to remove the twin set up and then the turbo to fix. But same issue.

Just drove down the road and you can tell the boost leak is fixed and no DP leaks. EGT at 55 are 1000. And if I roll into it the climb well over that.

Were the boots for the intercooler or intake piping? If so sounds like you have left a rag in there or something. But I also have heard of some problems with cal flashes on the latest efi release. I sent a tune to somebody for an LB7 DURABURB, and he said it made it smoke horrible, cal flashed it in again and it made it work differently but no DSP, then cal flashed in the stock tune and it went back to the DSP i had sent him.

Only had one red micro fiber towel with me. So check that one off! Lol glad I didn't forget it. Seems like EFI is getting worse with the updates. I hate updating the V2.

i had a HORRIBLE time with the last LLY I did. Sucker kept not taking the CAL flash even though it said it went through. I made the hot tune on number 3, and number 3 was only putting out stock PW. Took 3 CAL flashes before it finally took. And as much trouble as I had getting it to take a full flash, I wasn't chancing doing another one on it. I know they say they don't change anything for the DURAMAX stuff on the older platforms, but we sure seem to get alot of issues that pop up with each update. The only reason i updated was for the lockup tables, and they wouldn't even work for me. Set it up to 1200, and with 900 RPM's of slippage it still stayed unlocked. And I ended up with the MOTHER of all tie ups from it on the 3-4. Flashed back to my old tune that hadn't modified with the newer version and I was back in business.

Maybe a question for guys with twins. When it's 95+ out and humidity thru the roof and heat index of 110+. Does you truck smoke more? I have a 68/71 vgt paired with S484. 100 overs and dual pumps. Just a little info on truck.

Can't say for sure on my truck but on my semi when humidity is high it will smoke quite a bit more. Semi = WOT most of the time. Truck = half throttle at most.

Humidity and high ambient temps will most definitely cause a diesel to haze and smoke a considerable amount more. Even my lml gets smoky when its over 95 and near 70% humidity...

Little update. Replaced injectors #6 and #8 and still high EGT's and excessive smoke. Balance rates are good in park, bad in drive. Will do a compression check when I get one. Kinda of lost right now.
