I think my truck is addicted to fuel. I get 10 mpg pulling two four wheelers, I also pull a 32ft montana, not at the same time. Pulling the rv is alot worse. My father and brother have dodges. And I really get hear about it When they are waiting for me to fuel all the time. It blows alot of black smoke. My bumper is stained black. My edge shows high egts once even 1500. Ive changed fuel filters, had my injectors tested, my pulse readings are in spec. I have been running lucas in the fuel. I even talked to edge tech. The engine dont miss idles perfect. I havnt did the egr block off and the pvc reroute yet. I didnt know about that until reading from this site. my truck only has 64k on it. Plus I only get 12 pulling nothing. If it helps its an auto 6 speed. Thank you!

I used to have the same size tires on my 05 (5 speed). With a cat delete exhaust and decent efi tune i would avg 18. Like they said, pull the edge, see if it changes anything.

"Blows a lot of black smoke" makes me wonder if its not turbo or intercooler tube related. Any odd loud noises coming from underhood?
What Edge level do you normally tow at?

X2, I was thinking the same. But a friend of mine had an edge on his LBZ and had poor mileage too.

the engine doesnt make no odd noises. it dont over heat. I have been checking other feedbacks on the edge. Most have said,17mpg plus towing. I tow in stage 2,is what is says I should do. I went out today programed stage 4 for the first time. Punched it at a dead stop, The tires spun in 3 gears. It blew black smoke at the start and thats it. The edge wasnt cheap. I dont want to just throw it away. Im all ears though, fuel isnt cheap either. Thanks

I see how you guys trucks are performing by your stats. Very impressive. If the edge is the problem, I reallly messed up.

How are you calculating mpg? Are you adding ~8% more miles for your 285 tires? Do you fill up until it clicks off or until it's to the top of the fill neck?

IMO, 10 isn't too bad for hauling. I wouldn't expect much better than 15 towing anything. Heck, the lifetime avg of my truck is just 17 (as you see in my sig) & I tow nothing.

when the nozzle clicks i stop. The trucks monitor tells me the milage. Plus when you divide milage by gallons. The monitor is pretty close.

I got 9.5mpg while towing a 38 ft 5th wheel camper. I fill mine up almost to the top of the neck and shake the truck two or three times and fill it up to the top of the neck again. The mileage I've ever gotten was 22 (hand calc'ed) highway driving at 55 or 60 mph in the Mississippi delta. Usually I average around 18 mpg unloaded hwy & city

What do you have the low boost fueling set at? It's been quite a few years, but when I had the Edge on my truck, I think I was getting around 13-14 MPG towing a huge Suburban (gross weight of the truck and trailer was around 19k). I had pretty much the same size tire.

As far as I know, the edge does all the changes on the engine. Ive done all the updates. Can somebody other than edge plug into it and check the parameters or even change them?
