I already have the 5533 on its way now :woott:. just trying to decide on the "little" turbo

I'd stick with the 72 and add a gate if needed. Or go with an S475 cause they are cheap. It does take a bit longer to spool tho.

I honestly don't want to go with a regular journal bearing charger that isn't gonna be fun on the street after thinking about it more today.

I would hate to get that and not be happy and im pretty picky lol.


I know the huge injectors, cam, and my converter will help and Ill play with the TCM tuning but just not sure if ill be happy with one of those.

It takes me 10 seconds to spool on an 80* day with an S475/83 1.10 A/R
With some fine tuning I'm sure it would be faster but still not good enough.

GTX4202R

As you know i have this similar set up (GTX4202R/GT5541R) They come up like baby twins. Super Responsive for a set of street compounds and sound better than a jet turbine. These have been the most fun set i've had so far, other than when the big charger lights, you start to have doubts about how "built" the motor really is :roflmao:

Just do it right the first time and stop messing with it. If you don't you will be burned out.... What fun is that?

I bet my GTX 80mm spools better then most, if not all Borg S47X based chargers.:thumb:

Ya there is no way I could deal with that. I can be up and on top of mine now is around 2 seconds.

Have you driven a 75mm inducer single on the street yet? This how the truck will behave when driving daily if you run a 75mm (GT4202/S475) as the small charger in a twin setup.

If you can get the shifting working well, it's a blast. But you need a TCM that has 8.1L gas tuning in it, but will shift into 5th at WOT. At first Allison was going to help me out, but they never came through due to the whole bankruptcy thingy.

I never did get that resolved. One of my many unfinished projects. :D

Note: With a 75mm second charger the converter becomes critical. It will EASILY push through the brakes when staging. You will want something a bit loose, so you can get the R's up without the big boost kicking in yet.

I have an experiment converter from Georend that Mike L was trying out. It is definitely on the looser side which is wayyy better than the 57 I have in my black lbz.

I can left at around 30lbs now with no problems. in the 1.5 60'
