lookin to upgrade from stock gears to 4:10s on my buddy's 87 suburban. I have done gears on my mustangs but never attempted them on anything lifted. The suburban has a 6" suspension lift plus 2" blocks. Im just concerned with difficulty because of the lift. how is pinion angle affected and how do i compensate for it? If anyone could shed some light for me that would be great. Im not planning on rebuilding the posi, maybe replace or just leave as is. thanks to all in advance

as stated above gears are gears ... it should be the same , as for pinion angle your only way to change it is to use a pinion shim under the leaf between the blocks/perch , but usually the pinion angle is changed when lifting a truck so guys dont have to buy longer drive shafts , most of the time to keep the angles good they end up being too short .

Exactly...I don't know squat about lifted trucks, but we used to set pinion angle at negative 5-7* on the drag cars to allow for rotation...
