I have a 05 Duramax and having problems the coolent system. After a while the coolent gets low when i go to and fluid to the system to fills back up but keeps going on. have had a lot of presure test done and they tell its fine. Then tried to tell me that it was just an air pocket. now they r trying to tell me that its blown head gaskets. Does any one have any ideas what it could be I really need some feed back need all the help I can get. Thanks

Headgaskets for sure my friend, and just to give you and idea of time to do it it GM book i believe gives 36 hours to complete job. You can do it for sure and save yourself a lot of money, its just time consuming, especially your first time. Depending on the shopit can be upwards of 3,500 to do.

mine was the same. maintained a hard hose and I would get the low coolant message. when I removed the cap to add some the pressure would release and the level came back up. Passenger HG at the bottom rear was bad

Took me and someone who knew about what they were doing about 2 days. I did studs, just depends on your plans for the truck.

What head gaskets do u recommend do u think i should go with factory or do u think i should go with an after market and if so witch one would or did u use? I went on line and looked up arp head studs. Im not to sure what i am looking for i am used to dealing with gas motors. This is a Hole different ball of wax. Dont laugh but i'm just a little scared to jump into to this. But i think I can handle this. Also what about the intake bolts and gaskets. What kind of special tools is this going to take. thanks for the help.

See Henry from creatures for gasket hook ups he gets the gm gaskets very cheap compared to others. If your going to do performace mods i would lean towards arp head studs but if you just stick with stock or close i would just do the gm headbolts.
