Need help with PPE harness. Where does it plug into?

Hate to hijack the thread, but I have a couple of questions on the harness myself and don't see a reason to start a new thread on the same topic.
I don't see the point to spend 50 bucks if I can do the same thing with my metri-pack crimper and a spare terminal or two. Basically I'm trying to figure how hard is to build myself. Since I can't seem to find any instructions for the gauge i'm basing my understanding off the the pictures on the PPE Site I'm wondering why the thing is so long, does it replace an existing length of cable in the truck? From my understanding the gauge only requires a single wire input according to the wiring diagrams on their site. I'm assuming one end (guessing the male) plugs into the existing sensor on the duramax, and the other existing harness. Where does the black and green wires go? (I see one is labeled ground in the picture.)

Done! Now just have to clean the blood off the sharp metal heat shield! Black ground and green is the sensor wire.
