Have someone trying to install some twins on an 02 LB7 and he can't seem to get the downpipe to turbo bolts broke loose. Not sure what kind of tools he is using but he is getting very frustrated and I would like to get him some help before he rounds off or twists off one of those bolts, we all know what thats like. if you can help out I am sure he could use it. post up here or pm me and I will get you his number.

A flex head ratchet and use a cheater bar with a good 12 point socket works.

I have also used the stock jack to break the bolts loose

I think this is his first time. He said the truck had about 120,000 miles on it and has never been apart. He has tried several things and even set his firewall on fire once. he just needs someone to break them loose and he can continue. he has already put the fitting in the oil pan and has everything else set ready to install. His name is Patrick. he is not a member here yet but his friend scott (Dmax15) is a member here. we are just trying to get him some help before a bolt gets twisted off and he has to remove the stock turbo with the downpipe attached to drill them out. JoshH is been very busy with school and work so he can't help. There has to be another dmax person around dallas that could help. Yesterday he was to the point of towing it someplace and paying someone to do it. If I wasn't working i would go do it. I know first had about breaking off bolts on the turbo:angel: it sucks!

18" long flex head ratchet worked for me getting those loose, and the one 14mm booger on the waste gate side i stuck a flare nut crows foot on it and gave it hell.

hes gonna break some fingers but it will come off :D

i just used a 12mm socket and 1/2'' drive ratchet with a little cheater pipe, did most of the work from the pass side fender. I used some CRC freeze off, that seemed to help quite a bit.

Thanks for starting the thread Larry. He seems to be a little overwhelmed with those bolts. If he had the right tools then I'm sure he could break them loose but using a wrench on those bolts with 120k miles on them, it probably won't happen, he also needs a good 12pt socket. He knows what he needs for tools now so if he can't find someone to pay to break them loose then he'll have to go buy them.

PB blaster wont do it for the uppipes and downpipe in my experience. Need some serious muscle or cheater pipes as mentioned. The easiest solution is to build the trans and do it while the trans is out :D:rofl:

pb blaster then drive it til it gets hot, then pb blaster it again and let it soak in break them loose 20 min later with a 1/2" breaker bar fron the pass. wheel well while its still hot.

i have a can of the freeze out stuff brand new and still have not tried it yet, is it any good?

Funny you say that. It was also brought up as a possibility when we talked the other day...
