Pat is a freak in a good way... He has EXTENSIVE access to a dyno, 3 trucks, EFI dealer, a test area/track, good friend is the trans guru, he is self employed, has unlimited access to this site to bounce ideas/gleen information and a good support network in his business allowing him to play when he needs to.

To compare us mortals with day jobs and limited info/cash to him is unrealistic. As well do you really want/need that much power? I know we have 7K lb trucks and need big nutz to move it. A 650HP diesel has about 1200 lbs of torque... in 2 wheel drive all we do is blow the tires out.

Over-motored excess is the American way... I am not discouraging you really! I unfortunatley have walked this path and can say if you wanna enjoy it on the street regularly.... this isn't a turbo/trans swap and go have fun.

The days of small block swaps and a shift kit are gone when you hot rod a serious deisel.

BTW- happy 4th of July.:)

:hello:

It's good to be king!

Seriously, much of my dyno time, experiments, and racing have been put to good use by lots of other Dmax owners.:driving:

Shim mods, lift pumps, TC's, turbos, tuning, intakes, CP3's, gauging, are some of the areas where I've shared what I learned with the DMax community for free.:nanawrench:

Where did that get me? Banned from 2 diesel sites. But I have a REALLY fast pickup truck! :gmc:

This is nothing that you can't have. Remember he pays for the dyno time and bought all his trucks. Don't know a trans guru, but I am allowed to test a lot of my ideas on Pats truck which helps everyone with a Duramax.( if they work :p) I have already made some mods on your trans for the upcoming new power and will probably make more. As far as being self employed, that is not his fault. It's Kats; everything is her fault. :p:hug::D You have just as much access to bounce ideas on the forum as does he. So you see; there really is no problem. So come and join me while I pay homage to the king. :D

happy 4th of July to you too.:D

^^^^^^^^

Well said Pat and Mike.

I have learned so much from the "Diesel Hot Rodders" community its not even funny.

I too am doing a build. I think "oh man what did I do? I should just go back stock." that lasts about 10 seconds.

I just picked up a new LMM motor to put in the truck while I do the build so I have something to drive, and here I am slapping the duel fuelers and injectors in it, along with the Idea of a turbo upgrade, for a motor that is supposed to just get me by till the built one is complete :D

Damn I have issues.

When i get the budget avaialible i would like to play with the idea of dual parriles and a supercharger. should be smoke free and run pretty good if i can get enough fuel for it

Like I said, this has been a HUGE reality check on me.. and i thank everyone here that has replied to my thread for their knowledge.. After MUCH discussion with some of ya'll .. and alot of thought .. If I want a Daily driver that has to pull my 5ver, but want fast.. there has to be a compromise..

Would anyone here think that a suncoast IV, ARp studs, MPI Twins, dual cp3 and an Airdog with some custom efi tuning make a reliable truck? I am really inspired by the Casper truck and the truck Brandon built to "Chase 11's"

Maybe the more accurate question i should have asked is how much power can i build reliably for my Daily driver/5th wheel puller/weekend drag racer?

again.. any ideas, parts lists, website links to parts.. are greatly appreciated.. and possibly what order to do the mods in..

thanks again ya'll..

MPI Twins, efi live, lift pump, Trans, tierod sleeves and you'll have a low 12sec capable truck. Rob has ran 11.89 with a similiar set up.

put rods in there and you got a sound setup for ~750ish hp and a low 12 sec truck

Awesome.. I can definately see that as a good buildup project..

Thanks so much

another thing that you might be happy about is it si very easy to build on top of this setup..
ie heads, cam, injectors and other things that would be almost essetial for a 1000+rwhp setup ;)

def sounds like you got a good idea and an easily project :D
