notice I said try days. I don't know them or Dmitri. Can you elaborate on what was funny? I haven't read anything bad on him. Obviously I was just naming a shop in Ohio like the guy asked. I would research heavily before dropping 5-10k. I am new to this site and haven't heard his name come up here so maybe I am out of the loop. It seems the absolute top dogs are far from Ohio.
And captphil this was not being a smart ass or disrespectful. I am new to the duramax scene and I want to learn just like the op. It is easy to see who hypes up the social media and gets their name out that way. Dmitri is one of those guys for sure.
If Caleb is closest drive to him. I've had one of his built trans in my truck for shit, I think coming up on 3 years this June. ZERO issues
I know merchant is nowhere near detroit, its close to zeeland. I said by detroit because of the link i posted to a built trans.

I haven't looked into trans builds for a while now (I still think in terms of Suncoast 3&4 lol.) but they used to make a SC 5 transmission built by suncoast. Maybe PM Andrew from suncoast and see what they offer and get some prices? Other than having Mike L build it I would think it would be hard to beat one built by Suncoast. IMO
I would like to know about his work too. I see people throwing his name out there on every Duramax page on Facebook. Same thing with Merchant Auto on the Michigan Coal Rollers page.
Just do some searching on here and you'll find your info.. He isn't thought very highly of around here.
He is cocky and flamboyant and very smart.. Hell kyle Michaels a lot don't like him either and he is cocky and flamboyant.. Doesn't mean he is shady.

I saw that on Facebook. He seems to be doing good deeds all across the country fixing other companies shady shit. I did a search on here just using "Dmitri" and there were a ton of threads. Many too long to sift thru and only one or two that were directed at him.

You only have 5 posts and they ate all in this thread, it sounds like you are trying to make him sound good or are trying to stick up for him. He is a hack and nobody on this forum likes him or his shenanigans so stop talking him up.
Jesus Christ fellas. I have no idea who the guy is. I just got wind of him on Facebook and found out he is building at days. He has posted several times lately about helping people out. You are right I only have five posts. I would imagine there was a time when you had five posts. I didn't know there was a requirement to ask question or comment. Thanks for the warm welcome. I figured these forums were a good place to learn, but maybe I was wrong. I don't give a shit who builds your trans. If you do your research not all of my posts were in this thread. The first two were in classified and I bought the items I inquired about. I asked you guys to help me understand what the issues were. I looked him up on here and most of the bad shit seemed more personal on his end. Does the guy build a quality trans or not? That was and still is the question.

Guys my post count is low because I have only been on this site for a few months and have only had a duramax for a year. I was not trying to talk him up. I just saw the same thing the other guy before me posted about. Talking about a guy named Dylan. I don't know him and probably never will. This thread interested me because I live in KY and spend a lot of time in Ohio for my job. A good, reputable, trustworthy trans guy is tough to find. I found that out the hard way on my old ford. I don't know a thing about transmissions and I don't want to be taken for a ride when my time comes. Sorry if I offended anyone by mentioning this guys name. Maybe it should be in the forum rules that he isn't to be discussed. Back to the topic on hand.
Funny i seen and shared that post dimitri posted. Hick town is very very shady, a customer of mine had work done by him. Took his lly in for a trans rebuild and got his lly back with an older 01 trans so it threw codes, the torque converter bolts sheared off, took it back and he put new bolts in and left old ones in the bell housing! Then the input shaft snapped. And he was screwed. I single handedly had to fix dylans mess he created. Also he broke injector return line fitting the plastic ones and tried sealing them with wood screws. I cant make this up seriously had wood screws jammed in the holes. Anyhow i had to put new return lines in. Sucks cause this kid spent all his savings fir a "built" trans and got nothing but crap from hicktown.

Apparently he screwed you guys over pretty good. I learned more from here in a few hours than months of senseless Facebook forums. Point taken. And Mike, I will bet you one of your new spring kits that my name is Dave and I Live in Louisville, KY and I will be using my tax return to build a fence around my backyard because my wife would not appreciate me having a girlfriend much less a pulling truck.
People's memories are short, the Facebook nut swingers are plentiful even when the pot is calling the kettle black. Easy to look like a hero, he does a good job of it. How good is his work lately? Beat's me, don't care. He certainly is the most accomplished dyno racer though.

I don't build fences for a living. I have built a few on the side though. I have heard California building codes are pretty crazy not sure I want to mess with that. However for a quality built trans I could possibly fly out there and build a tiger pen.
