Where can I get a signal that operates between 500 and 1500hz? Is there anything I could tap into on our trucks that's this frequency? Trying to set up my lift pump to run variable speeds

So I can run low speed on the lift at idle, and ramp her up full throttle. Same reason everyone wanted a pulley driven fuel pump back in the day. I don't want to worry about losing positive pressure wot, but don't want it climbing pressure at idle when it shouldn't be.

Also as of now running full speed regularly hard wired, it's pulling down my volts. Enough to dime the lights when it kicks on and effect my other gauge readings. Lots of things won't work right when you get to loosing voltage.

How is your lift pump wired up? If it's dimming everything else then you have issues. Should pull less than 10 amps. Are you using a relay with power coming straight from the batterys?

Its got a relay, I installed a new alternator today. I had forgotten that in the past on few occasions I've had the "battery not charging" message pop up. Also truck has been sitting for 6 months. I drove it alittle today for about 2 miles, and will put a battery charger on it to juice her up tomorrow. Still think this would be something worth wiring up. Will call the pump manufacture torromow and ask there thoughts on an idea. Just wanted to ask her incase someones already done it.

I will disagree, I do not see this as something that's "worth wiring up". There is no need. Set your lift pump to 12 psi and call it a day. If it drops negative psi, get a bigger lift pump/dual lift pumps. I believe dustin has said they have made 900 hp on a single Airdog 2 165.

Also when you say "don't want it climbing pressure at idle when it's not supposed to"....what exactly do you mean? If your pump is set at 12 psi...its not going to climb higher than 12 psi..

Are you saying you want to ramp pressure up to say 30 psi under WOT? Pressure is a restriction. At 12 psi you may pump 150gph...at 30 psi the pump might only flow 60gph.

The higher the pressure, the less the flow.

Yeah I know it doesnt push through at 12psi. But what if you need more fuel?! I was at like 13 idle and sucked down to 7 or more. That was with an old filterless fass. Idk if it was a 95, 100, or 150. I upgraded the lift pump this year, but also plan on lot more power. Trying to avoid any complications that may occur.

Your factory filter is only good to 35-40gph. So that might have been your issue.

This isn't going to add any volume under high load. When pressure drops under load you've maxed out the pump. You won't gain anything from doing this. Under low load conditions the pump simply bypass fuel to maintain the desired pressure.

as long as you're still holding positive pressure isn't that all that's needed???? regardless of hp output? your cp3 is trying to pull and and as long as your pressure feed is positive isn't that saying your cp3 is well fed? it's only positive because there's a restriction of some type.

Am I off in left field here?

Nah, your right. I was just trying to cap a problem before it became one. Like said I lost about 5-6 psi on previous setup, and going for alot more power this year. I didn't know forsure what to expect, so just brain storming.

You will need the signal to to operate at the desired demand/load. Just finding a random signal wont do anything.

Get or build a controller. Motec or Haltech would be a good start.

you still have pressure no difference will be noticed... if you have 1 psi its got pressure and not starving for fuel your wasting your time imo

What motec controller would be good to get for this kinda thing? Small electric motors such as fuel pump, water to air coolant pump, electric fans, or water injection pump

I've decided it's best to just run a toggle switch. Run the speed control grounded 70% cycle, and flip it to 100% when I back to the sled. This pump is not designed to run more then 15 minutes full speed. Ill just keep it cheap and simple this way.
