Name some small diesel engines?

Must be industrial, turbo-rated, heavily derated. Very tough.

Need to create a 1.5L diesel engine that will survive at high HP levels. I can deactivate cylinders.

I'm thinking marine applicaitons:
Yanmar,
Perkins,
Volvo,

I think that they all have 4 cylinder models that came turbo charged, in about the 100 hp range, 50-70 HP naturally aspirated...

30-40 HP in the 2 and 3 cylinder N/A models....

These were used in the 28'-50' sailboat applications....

Nothin runs like a DEERE(john deere) dont know if another company makes em? International Harvester comes to mind as well, they had some 3 cyl tractor motors if memory serves me right from my farmin days in south dakota.
Many pieces of small construction equipment could work too. I used to fuel some diesel light standards for night work, cant remember who made them though, it was about ten years ago. But i think the size of the engine would fit into your parameters.

Otherwise I'd go Perkins or Kubota. Simply for parts availability.

Lombardini engines seem to run good in generators, not sure the displacement but they are small 3 or 4 cylinder jobs. There are tons of 3 cyl. Kubotas out there in all kinds of equipment. Then you have the gray market Asian tractors if you want disposable power. Hatz air cooled engines come to mind also. I don't know about power potential, but they all work in harsh conditions for years on end.

Yanmar... Search for "diesel mini tractor pulling" on YouTube for plenty of examples. They're some wicked little dudes! Can go alcohol injection if "clean burning" is desired.

We have pumps that run small john deere engines, I think they are made by yanmar. I have seen them run with no oil till they were hot enough to melt the hoses. Didn't quit though, still pumping water when I cut them off. And would still run afterwards.
