Who here is weird like me and can actually smell the difference form a stock truck with cat/muffler vs one without...
I can too. The smell with and without a cat is night and day. You can also notice the difference with EGR on/off, but it is subtle. My EGR's been gone for so long I don't know if I could tell EGR on/off anymore.

If it wasn't for the mileage hit and upfront cost, I would still be running a cat. Smells like diesel without, but with a working cat and a healthy engine, it smells like propane.

So to the EPA: buy me the Magnaflow 5" cat, and pay for the exhaust shop, and I'll leave it on there!

I get a bad smell in the cab too. Seems that the crankcase breather pumps out the smoke. I notice it when I stop at a stoplight at night. You can see it waft up in front of the head lights and then I can smell it. Must be getting alot of blow-by.

even after i blew an up pipe bellow the truck didnt stink, made a hell of a racket due to exhaust leak but didnt smell out the exhaust or at the driver door the smell wasnt noticed.

i pulled it in the shop, added a bigger downpipe and a few other things. after the repair the smell was so strong it burnt my eyes even with the shop doors open. I thought it would go away, but it hasnt. It is still very strong even outside.

Bump the RP up to about 6,500 or so and see if it helps. My pcv used to stink, but I put in the morals checkvlave in the exhaust and plumbed it in. It has been on for about 10k and problems. I check the valve from time to time and it is always clean and working correctly.

Im new here, and just reading through some of these threads, and i was wondering if you did this just to keep the oil from coating your truck? also is there anyway i could see some pictures of your setup

Seriously, exhaust fumes are caused by exhaust leaks or bad sliding rear window seals.
Mine came back from big twin with both manifolds leaking, it smelled terrible exhaust leaks are definately a major nuisance

My LLY smelled really strong after my egr delete n efi live
Well sure, after my delete and added fuel from an efi live tune, it smelled like an 80's school bus, you removed the tech, what'd expect

I bet your rods are a little shorter. Or at least one or two.
I have been wondering if i shorteded a rod, my motor has picked uo a tiny hiccup at idle

if its the differential kinda smell, i noticed i have it too. i think its the pcv reroute. it kinda smells like burning oil or something. although my lines are dry...
Mine was so bad i had the pvc re routed to the down pipe, plus i saw pics of harbin22 setup like that and said"lightbulb", it made a huge difference with the pvc going out the exhaust

Mines stinky too but i assumed its because my injectors are puking out...
I think this is difinately ONE of the causes of my truck smelling bad

It seemed to get much worse after I took the stock turbo off back in 08.
Mine got better, just slightly, thats weird?

It is definitely way worse when's it cold out
X2, i know i have other limiting factors regaurding my mpg, but the smell is definitely worse in the winter, as well as my economy

How many miles do we all have on our cp3's, injectors....

My cp3 has the hi flow fittings on it and has 143k
Injectors are stock same milage
EFI dsp5 230+hp max tune
4094vgt, 3" plumbing and intercooler
Egr delete, pvc re route to downpipe
Fpr shim, ported rails
DRP fuel sump, Ad165, fuel filter head delete
4" diamond eye exhaust (quiet tone with muffler, theres nuthin quiet about it at wot)
Yeah it stinks, a few more mods wil make a bit of differance, but i really think once i have satisfyied my streetable power gaols i will put a cat on, cuz i dont really like the stink, one of the things i absolutely loved about the lbz in stock trim.was how quiet and clean it was, i almost miss it, then i put my foot in the throttle and im like, miss stock? yeah right i love the durabeast....smell and all, i just shut er down quick like when i pull into my garage, after I've cooled down in front of the neighbors house for a couple minutes...

He made a thread about it, i found it in the archives when my truck was down and getting a new turbo and down pipe, just in time too.

It was onky one or two pics, used a moroso check valve if iirc?
I used the same valve, actually big twin did it at my request

Made a nice difference in the overall smell shrouding my truck when idling, and especially in the drive thru, i had mine routed down the drivers side, phew was it stinky

Mine will plug your head up and make your eyes swell shut, it smells horrible, no haze when its warm but it bellows the smoke when you start it first time in the morning, with a nice miss for a few seconds.
