I reached my breaking point today when I received and invoice from them. I will keep this point form. You may also visit this thread for more detailed information regarding this issue: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=423249&highlight=

My name is Jeff Martel, I live in Winnipeg, Canada. I drive a 2002 2500HD fairly built. I own/operate a transmission & driveline company that does primarily wholesale sales of transmission, transfer case and differentials and parts and a little diesel stuff for fun. www.ptcinc.ca

March 11th, 2011 - Ordered the TapLocker

March 25th, 2011 - Attempt to install the unit, however, the pin connector for the VSS wire was never installed at the supplier. Contacted Brayden.

April 2nd, 2011 - Pulled a few strings with a buddy at a dealership, get the necessary pin & install the unit. Tapshift feature works fine, however the AlliLocker does not function.

Late April - Early May 2011 -Am fairly busy with my own business & put it on the back burner.

May 25th, 2011 - Having checked, re-checked and checked again all my connections, soldered & heat shrunk them all and it still not functioning, I contact Brayden.

May 25th-May 31st, 2011 - We try several email addresses to send the software to, finally receive it from Caleb on Friday June 10th.

Friday June 10th, 2011 - I remove the box from the truck, install the software on my laptop, hook up the USB port, ensure I have the correct COM port, in this case #8, it allows me to select said port from the drop down menu. Initiate the retrieve function & get a 'communication time out' error. Try it again several times, remapping my laptop to different usb ports via the computer management menu, same result. Install the software on to a different laptop, same result.

Friday June 10th, 2011 - I recontact Brayden & no longer receive responses.

July 21, 2011 - from Caleb: We have a controller ready to go, we are just going to put a TapLocker harness in my personal truck so that we can check the functionality of the Lockup feature. The TapShifter feature has already been checked and works great. We could not find any issues with your original controller, hence the need for a function test. The plan is to get my truck in this weekend when Im not stuck next to a phone, and get the harness swapped and run it the rest of the weekend to be sure its in working order. Should it be good to go you will be receiving tracking info come the first of the week.

August 10, 2011, 11:09am - I ask "Any news?"

Sept 2011 - I give up.

February 2012 - I get an email from Caleb new unit will be released.

April 1st 2012 - Brayden says he will ship new tapshifter and allilocker

June 12, 2012 - Caleb contacts me again saying it's actually coming out

June 27,2012 - Install it

July 17, 2012 - I contact Brayden because this thing randomly downshifts into a lower gear, usually 3rd, when cruising. PRND321 goes to 3 and the truck downshifts. I swap out a spare lever. Same thing. We exchange email a few times, this is going no where.

The bottom line is this:

- The truck NEVER did the random downshift thing with the old Tapshifter
- The old AlliLocker never worked and I never received the new one
- The truck is far from a beater, it has 128,000 miles on it and everything works. No hacked wiring, no half assed garbage work done to it. Literally, if you went over it with a fine tooth comb, the only things that could be nit picked are paint chips and the drivers door window is a little slow to go up and down, weak motor or dirty guide I guess.

It has been a year and a half since this journey started.

All of the above information is true and can be documented with emails.

I can not in good faith recommend them to anyone.

I give up with this piece of junk and will remove it.

I just give up. And what bugs me most about this random downshift thing is that this truck has a locker in the rear diff. If it does that in the middle of winter when it's icy on a highway and I have my little girl with me? Yaaaa

Bens products work great, if you decide to go with him contact him via email, not the forum. It will be quicker / easier to contact him that way.

Well, I mean really, it shouldn't have come to this.

It's going to turn into a Rick/Dmitri thread.

It is what it is. I've done everything that has been asked of me and the product does not work as advertised.

To be perfectly honest with you, I don't even care about the money any more. There comes a point where there's almost nothing that will satisfy someone and you're better off just walking away.

I felt obligated to vent & make other people aware that this is how it has been handled.

It could be because I purchased it through a large distributor initially, rather than direct, but the reason I did that wasn't price per say, it was that when I bring product up here, I typically bring $3-5,000 at a time and when I can get all my tuners/CAI's/Suncoast stuff from one distributor, why pay multiple freight and brokerage bills?

It's not like I haven't been patient, but enough it enough.
