Finally got my truck. Had some title problems but is all legal and good now. Bought it back in September and just got it Friday. Nicest older C/K Ive seen around here as I searched for over a month straight and drove as far as Indiana to look at "nice clean" trucks that were piles of shit held together with liquid nails.

Anyways its completely rust free. ZERO. Has some farmers undercoating under it that looks like some grease. Forget what he said it was but its clean as hell underneath. Frame is excellent also. Has 14 bolt FF in rear and Dana 44 up front. 350 SBC mated to Th400 (shift kit) and boat anchor NP203 (soon to be converted to part time). Has Western 7'6" Pro and cable pump and soon to be gone alternator that cant operate plow correctly. In the process right now of figuring out parts list to convert to dual alternators and serpentine.

Looks as if mount has been custom fitted but could be wrong. Things been sitting awhile as the manifold has about a years worth of mice turds in it as with the rest of the compartment full of bird shit. I havent had time to clean this yet so disregard the dirtiness.

Plans are an LQ4 (6.0L) (or 8.1L...havent decided) swap next year and a full body off going over making it salt/rust proof all over. Gotta make it strong as its dubbing as a summer mudder also

Nice find 496 :thumb: Spareparts, that's a sweet truck. Man I love the 73-87's. I'm looking at a 79 rc/lb 2wd with a factory 454 TH400, in a million pieces.

go for it i sold that truck to get my duramax:mad: i plan to cut this duramax up and put it back in a 80's chevy to make up for my mistake...

No I dont have any pics of undercoating. Its staying on there anyways as its doing its job. I am going to por 15 frame and all that next year. Buddy going to Rhino Line it someday for the bed inside.

this was bad....it was an 1986 chevy k20 i cut down and made a shortbed with the factory dual tanks...the truck was completley rebuilt every nut and goddamn bolt.... was a 454 and didnt like it and built a custom blended 350 small block with some funny gas...arb air lockers front and rear 4.56, monster th400, np205 cast transfer...truck was just amazing....and im an idiot


grille was just a lmc order....the whole body/interior was threw lmc...and i still get there holiday cards :)

$4500 with plow. I think its a great deal as I know what these go for even when they have minimal rust. This has none. I could sell the plow alone for $2300+ as its got a fairly new moldboard and looks as its never been plowed commercially as the edge is still brand new looking and original. I would have paid $6000 for this honestly. Too rare to find anywhere up here. Maybe in the south but not here.

The 8.1 is a cool swap but they are crazy expensive to get the
power out of built 6.0 (LSX) with a spinning thingy would be cool.:D
Im leaning more towards 6.0L anyways. Ive researched the hell out of them as Im doing one in my 95 s10 lowrider someday but its way more expensive and is on back burner now. Hell it bolts up to the TH400 with some minor mod/new parts. Was going to go carb on it as I didnt really want to mess with all the wiring and stuff but the more I think about it I prolly will go EFI and make my own harness. I like that type of stuff but never have the patience. Ill get some I guess.

Im not looking for a 600HP tire smoker. Id be happy at 400/400 and still manage anything above 14mpg. Id shit my pants if I got that as Im used to 6,7,8 mpg everyday in my HD and this. Ill just throw bolt ons and a nice Pat G spec'd cam and call it a day. May not be 400 to ground but engine side should be close. Trans is already built (so they say...shifts hard and firm as hell so Im guessing it has been with shift kit too). Im sure Ill stick with the NP203 as its to damn hard to find a Th400/NP205 adapter w/o getting raped by advanced adapters. May go NP208 with thick skid plates underneath.

So much to do and so little money. Damn I remember before I was married and just casually banging I had soooo much more money. Then comes a house. A kid. Groceries. Bills. 5 trucks. Shitty economy. AND Obama. DAMN!!!! :D
