It appears to be a fine weapon. I have yet to fire a shot. Got her at a gun show, NIB, never fired, with the mods listed minus the scope, plus a textile case. I paid retail for the gun, and saved about $300.
I have to admit, I am a Remington guy. I've owned Rugers and Winchesters and just like the Remington 700.
Where are you going to sight that in Scott? We used to shoot skeet and target practice out at Pt Mckenzie, but they've shut that down. We're looking for a place to shoot.

At the gun show it was $725. Retail on the net is about ~$680 I figure between the bolt (the guy did a really nice job on the bolt handle), the rail, the bi-pod, and the cheek rest the guy had about ~$300 in it. It also came with a textile soft case.....when I was playing with the case, the receipt fell out and it read $119. I think I did pretty well. :thumb: Oh, and it was NIB (I have the original Remington box too) and had never been fired!
As for the loads, I am going to try to hit paper with a Federal 150gr hunting load (I have only bore sited the scope). I want to find some Federal 168gr HPBT match loads, but everyone is SOLD OUT of .308 anything.
I will run stock loads if I can find them, mainly because I am too lazy to work up a hand load right now. I have to break out the Dillon and mount it on the bench again....:roflmao::roflmao: I've been struggling to find match grade bullets anywhere around here, let alone match grade ammo!
As for the weight, I have not put it on the scale, but the net says about 8.2 pounds without any of the jewelry. My fist guess on the question was about 10 pounds as shown in the photo (unloaded).

This is my first Remington center fire long arm in a long time (not including shot guns). For other reasons I have had Ruger's (took them for trade on some work a long time ago), and I just like the Remington. It has a real consistent trigger pull for a stock gun.
I may end up getting a new stock, we will see after I sight it in. The barrel does not float properly with the bi-pod...It looks like I'm getting contact. If that is the case, I will probably get a Choate stock, which has a full length aluminum bedding block, thus letting the barrel float even with the bi-pod. We will see after firing.....

That's not a bad price. Out here at a Chicago gun show i seen the same gun for 965. Kinda expensive compared to what you paid
I feel pretty lucky, the old boy who put the piece together I think just liked to play with his guns.
I loved the Remington 700. That setup you bought is very similiar to what I used at our department while I was on the SWAT team. It's fun punching holes at great distances. From what I read you got a great deal on the whole setup. I've seen others spend 5 times the amount for other 308 bolt action rifles, yet when it comes down to it, that Remington 700 with excellent optics shoots just as well as those high dollar guns. Have fun with it.
