I recently decided i was tired of blinding other drivers so i bought a set of spyder brand projector headlights off ebay. Unsurprisingly the light output absolutely sucked so i bit the bullet and ordered Morimoto hids and Mini H1 projectors from theretrofitsource.com. They also sell a bracket that allows you to mount the projector right in place of the junk spyder brand projectors which makes life a whole lot easier! I couldn't get my headlights apart to save my life so i found a guy about half a hr from me who used to have a retrofit business and took the headlights to him where he struggled for about a hour just getting one open, turns out there are 2 types of sealant used on headlights, Permaseal and Butyl. Butyl comes right apart when heated but permaseal does not.... Anway after much difficulty he got them both open and i installed the projectors and resealed them with butyl myself. It was a ton of work but i have to say it was totally worth it!! Here are some pics for y'all! :)

Sweet! Awesome job, looks great. I love seeing these threads of people doing HID retrofits the CORRECT way. :thumb:

Do you have any problems with ballasts cutting out after starting? I want to go to projectors, but I don't like the help, I am definitely interested in retrofitting.

You can't beat the performance of TRS products. I retrofitted my last truck and that the first thing I noticed with the 2015, was that the light output sucked compared to my TRS set I had before. Here's a pic of my last retro in stock housings.

Don't know why it's upside down? Can someone fix that for me?

To answer some questions i haven't had any issues at all with mine. Id say around $500 including the aftermarket headlights. Heres a night driving pic i just took. uploadfromtaptalk1434508815445.jpg

Is that LED the High beam? Has anyone here retrofitted something in for the High beams or is this bright enough that your high beams will not be any better?

It supplemented the high beam. The projector itself had its own high beam, but the cubes came on along with them. They were a spot pattern so they lit it up further down the road than the projector.

I'm curious why did you change to the mini projector housing instead of keeping the original projector housing and use the morimoto HID? I'm in the same position although I found a set of H1 led hid setup that will fit in the original projector housing. It's made in Australia for $200. Not sure how well they work.

That looks fantastic!! I retrofited my Cadillac as the original '97 lights SUCKED! It was definitely worth the time and money to do and I can't wait to do it to my truck!

Was that directed at me? If so its because the aftermarket projectors were total junk. Worse than stock by far.
