This is in my 02 puller. Usually it will shift to 3rd gear in 15-30' depending on the track conditions but the last 2 pulls it hung in 2nd gear bouncing off the rev limiter till about the 200' mark before it finally shifted.

Any ideas on what to check, change, or look for would be greatly appreciated. Or should I just do a stick swap?

Thanks
Jesse

Hanging shifts have been known to be caused by over due change of fuel filter. Are you running the stock fuel filter? Has it been a while since it was changed?

Would be a cheap fix maybe wishful thinking.

When mine would hang shifts changing my external trans filter would fix it. But it was also getting clogged up from clutch packs becoming toasted.

My external filter probably has less than 20 hooks on it with 0 street miles and the tranny fluid probably has under 10 hooks on it. I've changed the fluid 3 times in the last 20-30 hooks and all 3 times the fluid was cherry red.

Ill swap the filter and cut the old 1 open to check for debris though just to be safe.

This tranny was in the truck when i bought it almost 3 years ago and I have no clue whats done to it. All i know is it was "built" before I got it.

Maybe speed sensors. Maybe transfer case problem. It should have thrown a code if the problem is trans related.

Check engine light too or just codes?

Speed sensors? Input/output or wheel speed?

How can the t-case cause shifting issues?

Thanks

Ok I'll check out the sensors. I wish I had a tech2 or something that was capable of reading the sensors.

I haven't really had time to look into this issue yet but can a bad output speed sensor/signal cause any other problems besides shifting?

I was planning on going to a 3rd gear start anyway for the next pull so shifting won't really be an issue as long as a bad output speed sensor doesn't cause any other issues
