Looks good so far but I'm sure you're wallet is getting empty..:D
I'm assuming you're around the Dickinson area being that was on the dyno trailer?

Nice to see another fellow ND guy!!! :thumb:

Yes it is addicting. I've got shelves full of misc. parts; turbos, tubing, etc.

I grew up farming north west of Fargo an hour then went to NDSU. I live south of Kansas City now.

Nice! I like that area a lot. My family owns a shop/trucking company in Watford so it looks like this will be home for a while.

I miss ND, it's to hot and humid for me, haha.
We worked out around Falkirk area and traveled through Minot into Canada when we worked up there.

As long as you like it and are happy thats all that matters.

Since I am waiting on parts at this point in the build I figured why not get things painted up. Truck is going to be painted black so this orange/red will look perfect in there. I'm not 100% sure if you can grind on these compressor housings like I did but i think it looks a lot better haha. I put an old pic of the turbo in for comparison.

As long as you done grind all the material off sit its thin you're find to clean them up. Turn your tig welder down some and you'll have better luck and nicer welds.

Got the firewall stripped down as much as I could, cleaned it primed it and painted it. I did some more of the body work around the rest of the truck but don't have any pics to post. The rest of my parts from race part solutions will be here this week and then I will be waiting on the trans to get back from the shop and then I will paint the truck.

This weekend I was able to make the charge pipe from turbo to turbo. I decided to mess around and do a fender exit exhaust for a couple weeks till I buy the new system(this is my old junk fender). Found my oil feed for the turbo and made my line out of braided stainless. Then i pulled the rest of it all back off and i header wrapped the exhaust pipes. I pulled the turbo off so i can drill and tap the hole thru the bracket for the oil drain and drill and tap my pan for the oil drain. Transmission should be done this week sometime and I am going to try and pick it up on Friday.

I took your advice and dropped it down almost 30 amps! It made it way easier to control the heat with the foot pedal. Thanks

Glad it worked!! :thumb:
Looking good, keep up the good work.:thumb::thumb:

What I learned for a pipefitter years ago, turn the heat down till you get a blue, pink, purple, color. It feels like it's cold but the steel doesn't pull/skew as much.

You'll probably have to put a bevel on the charge pipe going from the 475 to the IHI being it's pressurized.

I thought about needing a bevel but I figured the compressor housing would keep the pipe rigid enough. I don't have any way to use or get my hands on a bead roller to make it

If you actually need a bevel talk to a roustabout out there Patrick I did them all the time or there. Unless he meant welding just pointing that out there E&M has all that stuff. Talk with Trevor an he can get it taken care of.

Last week I got the transmission back from the shop. Over the weekend I finished up installing the oil lines. I started installing everything for the last time as well so I put all the gaskets in place and tightened everything down. I removed the old cooler lines to the trans and started installing the fleece ones. Upon installing one of the fitting into my trans cooler I stripped the threads out of my cooler. So for now I am going to give this Eaton cooler a shot. I had to go to the local hydraulic shop and get 2 fittings for the trans to make it work with the new lines, apparently its a different kit for lb7-lly. Trans is in but not all the way. hopefully I will have some time to work on it tonight.

I havent been keeping up with the progress like i should but i got the trans in and buttoned up the engine. I threw a couple bolts in my box so i could put some miles on the trans. I did some data logs and now it seems like i have some pretty pathetic rail pressures. At wot it will hold for about 8 seconds and then fall from a desired 26,500 to an actual 8,000. Pretty sure i need a new cp3 but i cant say i didnt see it coming. Other than that it runs great and the s475 sings a beatiful song when it lights. I have absolutely no smoke now which is nice but we will see what it does after i fix the rail pressure issue.

Wow it looks like i haven't posted in over a month on this now. I guess I will pick up where I left off. I kinda fixed the rail pressure issue when I welded the relief shut. At the same time I had the fuel system opened up i went ahead and installed PPE gauges, boost, rail pressure and pyro. I had the tunes changed for the compounds and what a difference. I should have changed the tunes before I even tried to drive it out of the shop, that MAF sensor did not like the 5 inch intake at first. I left the stock waste gate alone and at the y bridge I am seeing about 38-40 psi of boost and I am happy with that right now. Once I had all the motor work finished up I found out that a buddy of mine in Minnesota would be able to paint the truck for me! So I drove it 550 miles with no hood, front bumper or rear bumper! man did I get some looks on that drive! I am having it painted a gunmetal grey/silver metallic color and I ordered smoked out lights and found a set of 20x9 xd rims that are getting blasted and powder coated black as per part of the paint job. I am really excited to see the truck when its done, hopefully my friend will send me pictures regularly so I can post them.
