Took my Daughter and my GF to my lease in GA last weekend for a few hunts. This was the first time my Daughter went with me. I was pretty excited to get her out there just to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, and hopefully see some deer. I had my doubts about how much deer movement we would see due to the weather being a bit warm. But, I think the good lord knew how much it meant to me for her to see some deer. On our second hunt I had to sit with her in a Condo stand due too her inability to sit still at all in the open ( Typical 6 year old:D) At about 5pm we started seeing doe after doe and her eyes lit up like like light bulbs, she was so excited. One by one they walked by , a total of 8. So needles to say I thought our chances of catching a Buck trailing behind them were pretty good. At 540pm I caught some movement down in a Hardwwod Swamp Bottom, and sure enough saw horns. It was so thick down there I couldn't tell how big it was, but managed to count 4 on one side ( My own rules are 4 on one side for me to shoot) After watching this Buck for what seemed an eternity, Buck Fever started setting in and my adrenalin was making me start to shake a bit. Finally he started moving towards an opening for me to get a shot. With not much shooting light left, I finally got the shot. He ran about 50 yards. Here's a pic with her holding him!:D Was def the best hunt of my life!!

nice!! Its good to see the youth out hunting! I don't get to do it as much as I did growing up, friggin "JOB" is time consuming!!

My bro-n-law just took my nephew out hunting in east TX last weekend. They bagged a nice buck. When he got back home he asked his mom to put on Bambi, then proceded to tell his younger brother that he wanted to shoot Bambi's daddy because he was a bigger buck!! lol! too funny!!

LB7diesel, congrats thats a good buck! Great story to accompany it too.

Coker, thats a good buck as well!

Its good to see the youth involved in the outdoors, especially with all the other interests (tv, video games, internet) to attract their attention (and ours for that matter :D)

I took my cousin out hunting when he turned 12...I gave him a shot (with my gun) at a buck bigger than I had harvested at the time, he grazed the deer (hit the brisket,non-fatal) and we never got him...he told me last week how he still remembers that hunt.

Its good to see kids hunting or fishing, keeps them from turning into a tree hugger later on. If I have kids Ill defiantly bring them with me.

Thanks You all!

Nice Buck Coker!

She's not ready to shoot yet, she hasn't mastered her Pink Red Rider yet:D. Her arms are still to short to even get a good rest with the Stock length on my rifles. I'm going to look into some .223 models for her in a year or two. Try and find some taylored for kid's.

you might try something a little bigger like a 25 wssm for a little more shock power :D and it doesnt really kick much more than a 223. Nice buck Joey, glad your daughter got to be with you on the hunt.

...if she's up to it. a .223 still drops them well. my friend Ryan shot a 14 pt in the sholder @ 300+ yards with a .223. he says it was 400, but i think it's was a little less. :D

My daughters first deer (several years ago) :D

nice!

Nice, it makes it alot of fun when the kid(s) are into it as well. I've been taking my daughter out Duck hunting since she was 2.5yrs old. I pack her up all nice and warm in camo, with a camo sleeping bag and heater She walks the levey but I carry her the last 50-80 yards across the pond to the blind. She is 5 now, and it's getting to be a task getting her and luggage across. She actually enjoys the sun rise and watching the birds drop. I dont know who is more upset when I miss a bird, her or the dog. They both give me a WTF look:D.
