Can you grab the balancer with your hand and shake it and get movement when you do? If its moving around that is bad news.

Describe bouncing?? It's it moving up and down, in and out or torsionally bouncing? Up and down or in and out is bad. Torsionally bouncing can be caused by the miss itself.

The balancer is moving around quite a bit. Balance rates are high on 6 and 7 and 8 is way low. cam is keyed and it is moving up and down

Pull the oil filter off and cut it open. If it's moving up and down then there's bearing damage. Verify by cutting open the filter and inspecting for bearing material. When did it start doing this? Was it running fine and then start missing or did you go out and start it and it immediately started missing?

It it done it all of a sudden that's definately not good. Cut the filter open and report back. I'd bet there's bearing material in it and the cranshaft is no longer one piece since the balancer is moving up and down. Good luck.

Was the mains studded when you built it?

Was the main bore line honed back into spec with the main studs installed. My block deflected .003 when the main studs were installed and had to be line honed. Everyone I've built has been this way.

yes it was line honed and it was built by a very respectable builder.

Well there's 2 things going for you right now. :thumb:

Just curious what dampner you are running, stock, fluiddampnr or Socal?

Have you had a chance to investigate any further? I really hope it just something simple for your sake. It'd make me sick if it was mine. Keep us updated and I'll try and help the best I can with a keyboard. :)
