Help: motor issues

been trying to get my motor going these past few days and im having no luck at all. it will start and run but not well. running rough, smoking black and has no throttle.

I have tried about everything i can think of with no luck, tried spare ecm, ficm, different tunes, etc. pulled injectors on pass. side bank since i could hear some fuel knock and no. 1 cylinder nozzle was wet. swapped in a spare injector and no change. i believe i have all the grounds hooked up, before i put the motor in i sanded around the holes on the block for my grounds. i do have the empire alt. firing order cam but no. 1 isnt changed for this.

The latest issue im having is i cant pull any codes, when i start it the cel is on but both tech2 and efi live says no dtc's????

I would really appriciate any help here.

ya, we finally got it figured out. will post details tomorrow after a couple phone calls.

never updated this, it was the alt. firing order cam..........dont even ask

Guy was kind enough to overnight Saturday deliver a cam to me and i was able to continue weeding through some of the other little issues. but it ran right as soon as i first fired it up after the cam swap.

When you had the alternate firing order cam in had you swapped around wires at the FICM to change the firing order? Then you swapped them back when you installed the SoCal cam?

The 5.0L Fords have a different cam and firing order than the H.O. 5.0L's - you can't just swap cams without moving the spark plug wires on the distributor to match the new firing order. In the same sense, I would expect that with the Empire cam you would have to swap wires at the FICM to make the firing order of the injectors match that of the cam.

we swapped the wires at the connector that hooks to the internal harness and yes they are all back to stock locations now.

might have worked if they would have know the true firing order and i couple other issues with the cam....
