That really depends on who does it and what all you have done. I would say anywhere between $500 and $2000.

Ok thanks josh, at least I can figure that in now. I don't know how guys afford this shit. Its cool when guys put the real world results out there though.

If you want to start a new thread, some guys who have built their motors can give you some advice on what to discuss with your machine shop. I will be happy to give you some info I learned when I did mine.

That would be a good thread cause I'm soon to be in the process of building mine. What needs to be done vs what can be done that will hold X HP level safely.

Pm ecc33. He is currently doing a build and just got the block done similar to Jeff.

My motor is set up similar to Jeff's but i did install main studs. GMS pistons (made by arias) that are also set up with plenty of room to grow. Inspected after last season and all looked great.

Good to hear on yours Jeff. Can't wait to see it shakin in that dragster frame. :happy2:

Jeff, what P-t-W and bearing clearances did you decide to run compared to the OEM specs?

Piston to wall is .011 mains are .0031 to .0032 rods are just under .003 I run .026 on the top ring and .028 on the sec. Was running piston to head at .035 going to tighten it up to .030. Jeff

Do you measure that with a ball of clay or ??? I can see easily measuring protrusion, but how to you measure head gasket squish?

Boy, you werent kidding. Its nice to know that these motors should be ok with those clearances even in a racing application. Curious if the extra clearance affected your oil pressure at all and what oil you usually ran?

That is about the same specs that i run except for the piston to wall clearances. That sure is a good bit there. What is the Arias recommended clearance? I run about .030 on the piston to head now. what is the least amount of clearance that you can run there? I hear of guys running .020 there and they claim to not have any issue with contact.

Jeff,
I am wondering if those are scar on the rod cap. It doesn't look right in the picture. I like the Mobil Delvac as well. My family has run Mobil for 30 years or more in natural gas irrigation wells. I haven't seen a rod bearing look like that.
