I was really liking those rods. I was thinking about them when I end up building mine. I want to hear some good stories about them, so once its all back together, make sure to keep up with how they are doing please. They seem really really good though from what I have heard so far. Esspecially that oiling deal that they have seems like they will be really reliable for daily driving

Well the Mormom missle used them and when the motor was tore donw things looked good.

Nasty Girl runs them

And Jason otto(local puller) runs them as well and did very well this year.

The Nx Mustang also has them.

Yup, I'm pretty much out of the loop on them. I have no idea what failed on the Goodfellow engine. If it has been posted publically, I haven't seen it. Not many people will post about engine failures, especially performance shops.

No idea what let loose on Nasty Girl or the NX Mustang either. Haven't heard of Jason Otto.

None of those were related to connecting rods.

On the Missile, basically what happened was one cylinder overheated and the piston top melted. All 7 of the other pistons were fine as were the rods.

With Nasty Girl it was an oiling thing, which I won't go into. And the NX Mustang it had to do with tuning and huge amounts of nitrous.

Jason is in Wisconsin, his state champion puller dyno'd 820. No problems.

You might be right. Dunno. I heard (publically) no bottom end issue on Goodfellow's engine build, it was a bad coolant cap, nothing wrong at all on NG it was just resting, and an IC boot slipped off on NX Pony. But from people who were present (privately), I heard way different versions.

Now your version is somewhere in the middle.

So you can see why I might chuckle a touch when I read Internet failure analysis.

I normally publish with pictures stuff that I bust, and when folk come by to visit, I save the parts and show them. But that's just me. I don't sell hard parts, I'm a consumer and an enthusiast.

You're right, public account is only part of it and only partially correct. There's always more to the story, mine was a nutshell version. I was on the pit crew that day and helped with teardown after the fire. One thing had led to others which resulted in the coolant cap blowing off. Not because it was bad....lips on the tube were actually bent out straight and the cap may even have been reusable. Other than that one cylinder and one head and burnt wiring, the engine was ok. The one head lost an exhaust valve and seat, also had a broken rocker from valve contact with that puddled piston. The rods were unfazed. Lynn was going almost 350 when the chute went out. There likely won't be any pictures of this stuff, at least not from those two guys. Lynn suffered serious injuries in the fire, and Curtis is very low-key and not one for self promotion. Neither are internet junkies.

The others.....yes, private version is much different.

utahski pretty much hit it on the head, i only heard from curtis about the mormon missile and the rods were fine as they are in his other projects.

Jason is a local puller. He placed 2nd in points this year after dmaxlover. Jasons truck is a twin everything lly that put down 821hp at Huckstorfs Dyno day last fall. Goes by the user name STROKETHISDMAX on DP. Great guy, strong truck.

Info about Curtis' stuff doesnt get out much. You wont find him on any forums and he doesnt advertise. Hes pretty low hey but is very nice to deal with, is full of knowledge and has some very interesting products that are all very nice. And very good prices.

Going up to Curtises next weekend with the block to see if it needs machine work, then to discuss whats going in the motor and look around the shop at his projects. Kinda nice having him in my backyard.
