More tdi questions

I've been thinking about getting a tdi jetta wagon when my work beater (90 mazada 626 w/207xxx) kicks the bucket. Is there a year thats better or worse? How many miles can you get out of them befor major problems arise? How "nice" do you have to drive them to get 40+ mpgs? Anything else I should know befor I buy? Thanks, Jamie

99-03 have the ALH engine. Buy one of those with a 5spd manual and you will be set forever with awesome mileage and minimal problems.

i get 38+ all the time no matter how i drive it. see sig
the most ive ever gotten was 48.7 an that was cruse set at 68 going down a interstate highway...

Make sure you put a new timing belt in it if it has more then 60k

I too need to find a TDI Jetta. I was unsure of which years were preferable. I found a '96 5 speed but they wanted too much ($4300 with 290K).

seems like $4k is bottom dollar for most MK4 TDIs no matter what the miles
