Mini spool question

The G80 in my truck finally bit the dust. I am now considering putting in a mini spool. I do truck pull and drag race fairly often now.


This truck is not my DD. However I do drive it on occasion. Tire wear doesn't bother me.


However from early spring to fall I pull about 7000lbs once or twice a month.

Am I going to have to worry about breaking an axle shaft when turning tight?

What is yalls opinion on this? That is the only thing that has me thinking do I want to put it in or not.

I wouldnt do it if you have to tow , even if only on occasion . I havent been in a spool truck but have a "Lincon" locker Dmax and i cant imagine the strain with 1000lbs tounge weight it seemed decent when empty

X2, towing would be the issue. It looks like you tow quite a bit. Id hate to read a post about you loosing an axle in the middle of nowhere making a turn with that weight. I dont think I would spool even a daily driver even without towing.

I dont think I would go to a spool if you tow heavy. If it was a 4 wheeler trailer or something small I wouldnt worry about it.

But for the price of a mini spool I would go to full spool from yukon. I hear the mini sucks to put in.

if its any help to ya i bought a trutrac when my g80 bit the dust....i absolutely love it...never fails to get the truck sideways and i have videos to prove it haha

Thanks guys... Right now it is a toss up between the Tructrac and the ARB for me. ARB is running a free compressor promotion with the purchase of a locker right now. hmmmmm
