Merchant injectors

I put a set of Merchant Automotive injectors in a 04 LB7 last may of 2013 and it was at 104k and at 115k two are showing bad balance rates, I used new lines new injectors everything new and used their deluxe kit. he is getting a rough idle lie a vibration and a fuel smell at idle. his original symptom was the smoking at idle. this time he has no smoke but the vibration and the fuel smell. he was trying to say what the balance rates were but it wasn't making any sense as far as balance rates go. so anyone had merchant injector issues with only 10k on them? Im thinking he may have a compression issue going on now

Ya before I built my motor the rates were barely out of spec but it ended up being a short rod and low compression.

I think that's what he has going on. This guy said he is friends with gm's tech Number 1, said hes been working for gm at a dealership since 1978 and 4that on the list of gm techs he's listed as #1, and that he looked at it and scanned it and said yep bad injector. And I said you know low compression on a cylinder can cause a out of spec balance rate also. his tech #1 had never thought of that so I explained to him what the balance rate means and what can cause it and that it can be thrown off by a cylinder with low compression also. never thought of that he said. lol

Not that I blame them....but those techs love injector jobs. The likelyhood the customer will pay to fix compression issues is not good while they could talk them into replacing injectors lol. One way they get paid, one way they do not.

It's funny just he just keeps bragging him up but he called me and want to have me fix it even though he has to bring it from 4 hours away. And the gm tech is on the se town he lives in.

Talked to Merchant today and they agreed he said it it would ahve been bad injector due to contamination that would have happened right away. I drove it alot afterward and he has put 10K or so and this issue just showed up, I guess before anything he needs to do a comp test.

I have merchant injectors and no issues. I suggest calling merchant directly.

LOL yeah I did I talk tot hem quite a bit. I had no doubt it is something else going on and was not suspect of the injectors to start with.

True, but one bad tank of fuel will take out an injector in a hurry also.

Absolutely. That's scary for this guy that would really suck if it started taking them out a couple at a time.

Needless to say he is going to drive it 200 miles back to me to get the truth about what is going on.

I can't believe this guy at the dealer guy who is telling him and he seems to think they are friend or something. then he tells me tonight "your right it doens make sense since everytime I have taken my truck to this dealer is has been a 1000.00 dollars or more. and that this guy shows him how much of a discount he is giving him and where he is cutting him a break.

So I got a call from the guy yesterday and he said that one of the injectors was cracked and that is DID fill the crank case with diesel. He ended up having to take it to a shop down there other then the chevy dealer. They agreed with me that all the injectors were fine except for the cracked one leaking diesel. They also said that his CP3 was bad which I'm unsure how that could be since he said they were able to make 21k at idle with one cracked injector. Whats funny is I had this guy check the oil and make sure it wasn't over full becasue it sounded to me like it was from what he was describing by having the diesel smell in the engine compartment but no leak externally. and at the time it WAS overfull because it was having the strange vibration due to the oil being so far over full but had not started leaking from the vent yet. he was not able to detect it beign over full with a paper towel on the stick, but it was.
