Found this the other day. Its the power wire going to the relay for my 55w HIDs from VVEM. They still work any idea on what caused this? I had to lengthen the wire some ~1' used the same gauge wire but it was a cheap one with fewer strands. I think it happened on my trip up north with the lights on for 14hrs. straight. During an long stretch of empty country I had my highs and Hids on at the same time for a few hrs. All of a sudden my Hids went out, but the highs stayed on. The Hids came back on as soon as I switch back to just them. Switched both of them back on maybe 30mins later same thing, so I just left the Hids on. Never had any issues after that, but never have ran them both for any amount of time.

High resistance in the spade terminals that slip onto the fuse. Assuming you don't have something crazy like 40amp fuse in there.

Is 30amp crazy? This is the harness that came from VVEM. So it was probably just the crappy fuse holder? I was looking at just soldering a new similar fuse holder.

Personally, I'm not sure what the HID kits need amperage-wise, especially on start up. 40 amps probably wouldn't melt like that, let alone 30. More than likely you can just solder in another one of those fuse holders and be good.

For 55w a 30amp sounds right I know a 35w bulb will draw ~10 amps each at start up.

I just wanted to make sure I'm not ignorant to the fact that fuse holders like this are POS. I want to add another fuse box, but not until I need it for more them just my Hids.

Ive never had any problems just running 55w HID's on the stock wiring. I dont see why everyone messes around with the aftermarket "harness/relay" kits.

The newer digital ballasts have hardly any startup current draw too. And once they drop to steady-state after a few seconds, they really dont draw anymore current than the stock 55w halogen bulbs.

same here. no problems with stock wiring. not even a single missed ignition/flicker.

Anyone ever seen or have an idea why my Hids cut out on my trip? Its pretty odd to me no flicker no nothing. Looked like I just shut them off and turned them back on. My other though is that maybe the jumper wire from the all on mod.
